I've been using the Hero 6 for a few weeks now and it is AMAZING! The image quality is fantastic, the dynamic range is top-notch, and the image stabilization is off the charts! I'm really blown away by this camera.
Unfortunately we aren't allowed to post videos here any more, I recently uploaded a video I shot at the 2018 Garage Brewed Moto Show at the Rhinegeist Brewery in Cincinnati. All the video was shot on the Hero 6, the stills were shot on my Fuji X100S.

Were you only using the in camera image stabilization in that video?

The external audio is not very good as a main source. It is great as a sync source, and usable in a pinch, but no where near broadcast quality.
I typically record to my phone using a cheap lavalier lapel mic then sync audio in post. It’s a bit cuddly but it works. I wish GoPro had a direct external audio port!!!

I kept snapping mic cables when running an external audio recorder from my jacket to my helmet so isn't an option for me. The Six needs a powered external mic too if you want to use the one-touch record button which limits it's use over the Four or Five (Five requires older firmware)

I love the one touch record function but hate the $50 price tag on the monster adapter needed for an external mic. I’ve had mixed results running a mic into my jacket pocket phone. Sometimes I get crackling if the connection gets jiggled.

aye, they really messed it up for us, and I think a wedge of the worlds motovloggers would pounce on the Six if it allowed the one-touch and a non-powered external mic, I'd have paid full price for one happily if it did what I needed it to do!

I run a hero 3 black. It can do 4k but I record in 1080 60. I use it with along with sena audio pack. I want to switch this to my secondary(not forward facing) camera and pick up a hero 6 with stabilization for forward facing.

The stabilization on the 6 is stunning!!!

Just got myself a GoPro Hero 6 Black, I previously said I'd not get another GoPro product with what they did to us regarding the external mic but saw it with £30 off in PC World so bit the bullet.

Owning 2 different Drifts now.

Waiting for a Firefly 8 to arrive.

A good beginning i think xD

I see that 8s has external mic support. Do the internal mic turns off when external mic is connected?

I have Gitup G3 Duo and it has external mic support but the internal mic keeps runnings even when external mic connected and picks up all the unwanted noise...there is no workaround for it atm :/

Even if the records both internal and external mics, I would think it would recor them on separate audio trac so you can separate them later when editing.

Let us know what you think.
Bit disappointed to be honest. Not really the cameras fault, more the editing software available currently......
.... It doesn't allow me to utilise 120fps and when compressed to 60fps and shoved on the Tube of Ewes it compresses it to buggery making it unwatchable. Not the end of the world, will just have to leave the 120fps alone, am just annoyed as I had hoped that was going to add a wedge of improvement to the footage.

What editing software are you referring to?

Filmora Wondershare and Corel X10, although I've not seen any others that will do 120 fps either

looks like it does the same as all the others, 60 fps max!
