What Action Camera You Have, What Do You Want, What Did You Have?

Have:

1 x Sena 10C (en route to me as I type)
2 x VIRB
2 x Vivitar DVR787HD

Before end of January, I'll have a third VIRB (possibly an Elite), which will complete my plan for a 4-camera touring set-up.

I'll relegate the sucky Vivitars to lighter duties, occasional use, or donate them to my kids.

I been trying different things with my sony fdr-x3000r..I kinda miss the prism tube, turn it on..turn it off..no menu...Quality of the sony is hands down a big improvement though it does require more thinking...something I'm not good at..

I have two Garmin Virb elites

I am toying with the idea of a drift camera for a side mount option on the helmet

If you go down the drift route I don't know how the Ghost 4K is now but I know when it came out with issues. I've been using a second hand Ghost S and have had not had a problem. Though the prices on the Ghost S are still high

Yeah, I was looking now at the prices of the Ghost 4K now, i think a bit on the high side for me at the moment.
Good camera from the specs, dont get me wrong. just dont think i "need" it yet

The Ghost S and Ghost 4K are about the same price. I know what you mean about wanting to upgrade and not needing too. In my case it was that I couldn't justify it but once I changed helmet I didn't like to way my SJCAM had to be mounted. As it had to be on the side of my helmet as it uses the GoPro mounts. Heres the link to Spicy110 video explaining his issues with it but it was back they launched. Like I said I don't know how it holds up today.

Has anyone considered the GoPro Fusion? It is quite big and bulky so I don't think it would make an ace headcam, but it could make some awesome shots when using the Overcapture app.

@Sharktank had a nice looking video with a 360 camera.

I wanted to say the following [], until I googled the overcapture. That does in 360 what multicams would do, thats seriously cool.

[I think it looks cool, but for now I prefer two normal cameras and switching up the perspective that I want to show.]

Depending on the situation, it (360) might be a benefit to use.

I love the way it hides the selfie-stick so it looks like the camera is floating in the air, could be quite cool mounting it out on a stick infront of the bike or behind it!

GoPro Session 4. Trying to see if I can justify the step up to the 5. LOL
hmmm... the Hero Five Session offers nothing extra unless you want to run external audio.... and if you want to do that then the Hero Five Black would be better.... although 90% say the Hero Four Silver is currently the best GoPro to date for motovlogging (as a headcam with external audio)

Very interesting Hippo, and much appreciated. I gotta admit, the 50 buck adapter for the session made me flinch. lol

You still need that for the Five Black.... and it still has issues.... if you run a Five with external mic and use the latest firmware then you need a powered mic if you want the one touch record to work. There is a fix (which I have made a video on how to work around this - not trying to make you watch my channel, just as an fyi if you get one). I really like the Five Black and Session (I use both) but it annoys me that I have to run a workaround/fudge to get it to work as a motovlogging camera.
The Four does need an adapter, but it is much less invasive and mic choice is easier with it too.

Friday Amazon briefly dropped the GoPro Hero 6 black to $399 so I snagged one as fast as I could! I'll post some footage once I get a micro SD card for it (and the snow is mostly gone).

I was tempted with the offer but the only gain would be upping resolution over the Five

I've been using the Hero 6 for a few weeks now and it is AMAZING! The image quality is fantastic, the dynamic range is top-notch, and the image stabilization is off the charts! I'm really blown away by this camera.
Unfortunately we aren't allowed to post videos here any more, I recently uploaded a video I shot at the 2018 Garage Brewed Moto Show at the Rhinegeist Brewery in Cincinnati. All the video was shot on the Hero 6, the stills were shot on my Fuji X100S.

how do you find the external audio? What mic are you using? How you getting it to work for you in a motovlogger situation?

I had my choice and got the sony FDR-X300R and I'm happy as hell with it..Im learning how to use the menu, it's not as complicated as I thought at first...Image stabilization is first class and the sound is also very good...I have a few vids with it now on my youtube page.
