Dongle (aka mic adapter) failure

My trip to OBX with Scooterwolf was hit with a couple of problems.

First the mic adapter (not the media mod) failed part way through my journey there. That meant no snappy audio commentary.

Second problem was the looming migraine.

Has anyone else experienced the mic adapter for the usb-c GoPro fail? Is there a way to diagnose it? The short section wires look good from the outside. No bulges or kinks.

As for the migraine problem, I will bring that up at my next physical.

I can't help with migraines, but for the Mic Adapter, I'd try to connect it to another camera, to narrow it down a little...

And then I'd look at the device itself. It could be the connectors themselves, but it's probably a wiring problem right at one of the connectors. If part of it is stressed or has a lot of movement, that's caused failures for me in the past.

Thanks. I tried the other camera Hero 8 Black. The 11 gave an error message about the magnetic door but I think that might be the gateway to the netherworld.

Yeah, best not to upset the Demons in the Netherworld. There's a Minecraft joke in there somewhere, but I only know there's a Nether somethingorother because of my kids.

If two cameras both refuse to work with the thingy, then it's most likely the fault of the thingy. Maybe you can borrow someone elses thingy and verify with your camera? One of the two will happen. Either everything will work, or the borrowed thingy will also stop working.

I know migraine can be solved with the French head snipper. There are some complications that follow though, that might make motovlogging impossible.

I do have an extra thingy at home. I will whip out both thingies and cameras to see what happens.

In these cases something else is usually snipped. Something that for many men is roughly around the region where legs meet the body. Yes, you guessed it. I'm talking of the thickness of the wallet.

Well, 2 dongles and 2 helmets don't usually go on 1 bike, so I think the math checks out: 1 dongle, 2 helmets = good times.

I had a dongle fail a few years ago so when I bought a new one I bought 2! Why not spend twice as much when your odds are 50/50.

I usually order two items of the same adapter or bracket. For some strange reason I tend to misplace my GoPro small accessories.
