I was thinking that the 60fps was causing the issue, but it persists in the 30fps footage on Youtube.

Once again, looks GREAT on my local machine.

Too high of a bitrate needs a strong connection to support it . I had the same problems. I had to lower the bitrate to less than average to get clear video. Plus my upload times increased !!! From over 2 hrs to just an hour. Just because your connection at home is a high mbps. Don't mean your phone or such can achieve that rate.

Also, @OhioRider, the source footage looks amazing, and even at home with my high high high speed internet, I get the pixelation issue so I don't think that's the case. I can upload a clip with lower than average bitrate and see what happens.

I ended up matching my bit-rate up to the source video and noticed better quality but my upload time tripled !!!!!! Damn slow ass internet around here . Barely getting 2mbps upload right now .

@lupin any specific reason you chose .AVC over the .mp4/h264 codec everyone else recommends?

Fair enough, lmao. I'll take some test footage and give it a try, I guess. I have a feeling it won't make a different but I'll copy your settings exactly.

Just remembered this thread exists, and wanted to follow up. Still no solution for the problem that I've been able to find. I've done multiple tests using different resolutions, bitrates, framerates, rendering programs, formats, and I can not get it to look good. I haven't made a video in a little over a month, was too discouraged to continue trying. Thanks for the help everyone.

I had a similar problem with my GoPro Hero 4 Silver. Did numerous tests of all different settings. The solution I'm using at the moment is rendering the video into WMV format and messing with the settings there. I started with MP4 and no matter what I did, it came out choppy on youtube after all the resolutions were available after looking great prior to the upload.

Also, when you right click your uploaded and fully processed video (stats for nerds), does the codec say vp9 or avi?

I'm thoroughly convinced that one should render the video at a bitrate that ensures that Youtube does not need to re-encode again. They will mangle your content.

Recent examples of mine that I can cite was a POV video on Canada's Wonderland's Leviathan that looked fantastic straight out of the camera.

I uploaded the video (mp4) straight to Youtube and it got very grainy in playback at points.

I did another video on a ride called Sledge Hammer and did the compression with Premiere Pro. I rendered to 12.9 target/14 max, 2-pass VBR. The video quality looked way better.

Differences with the video is that Sledge Hammer has much more sideward motion than Leviathan, which would have more "rush toward the screen" motion, though Sledge Hammer is also not quite as fast. But fast motion across a screen would show up as artifacts. There is also a large portion of the screen taken up by the restraints which may help the video.

I do have a recent motovlog video that I have processed at the same bitrate settings, that I'm going to upload shortly. I will re-encode the exact same video at the original bitrate (close to 35mbit/s) and will upload both to YouTube.

I will post the low bitrate one publicly, and the high bitrate one as an unlisted video and post the end of the URLs here, for you guys to compare which one looks better.
