So ..... I already posted a response to this question in that I once rode a unicorn but not my answer as to my one dream bike. My opinion of the best all rounder so far in the history of biking has to be the VFR750 of around 1994, the single sided swinging arm version from the nineties , just oh so bloody awesome. This question has had me thinking, realistically yes, seven bikes would be nice but if it had to be one, it hasn't been produced yet. I want a modern day all rounder, a sports tourer that I can scratch with, commute, tour, thrash, cruise, everything. It has to be fully specced with all modern tech and for me shaft driven (yes I know but I'm 51 now) and removable luggage ....... Basically a BMW K1300S, but not as big, not as powerful but still with enough grunt. I think Triumph have the ability to fill a gap left by their Sprint ST1050, with their lovely triple engine and then take it to the umpteenth level in every department. I'd buy that bike.

I would buy that as well

I think there was an article in one of the bike mags about the VFR being THE all rounder and they looked to see what could do it all at the time of the article. I think they suggested that the Suzuki GSX-R 750 was the new do it all bike, you'd be able to fit luggage to it without too much drama I'd have thought too! :)

@HippoDrone Hell yeah the VFR is a real all-rounder! Good in the corners, good on the highway, but it doesn't really do both perfectly. You see the VFR is a really heavy bike at 200+kg/ while a GSXR750 weighs less than that. However nothing can tip that V4 engine :) The new-ish 2017 VFR800F ticks all the boxes that RideSkills want, it's a modern sports tourer, with the V4 and ProArm that the old version has.

But I'm an old git and want shaft drive :-D ......... by the way, today I was just hit up the arse, first collision in 35 years of riding! GUTTED. I had an unblemished record, even though it wasn't my fault I pride myself on seeing these things before they happen. Not sure it could have been avoided. Will post a clip on a separate thread for opinions on how we can avoid these type of hits. VERY lucky no one was coming as I was shunted right across a main road by a Nissan Patrol 4X4. There's an F Bomb so you might need to review it @HippoDrone

Haha, I love the shaft drive on my Moto Guzzi, but only because I am lazy, not because I am old! ;-)
(glad you were not knocked off, I'd get the whole bike checked over professionally as you want to claim for any damage to the rear end, could even have damaged the engine if the swingarm mounts onto it!)

I know this is old but -

I recently got a 2020 SSR xf250 which I think is perfect for me, but in the future I would love to get a KTM Duke!

The 390 Duke is a really fun bike, although mine had some issues, it was a great bike, and I'd have loved to have taken it on track too had I been able to! :)

I love my Ducati Monster; and, like one of the earliest posters, the Streetfighter is what gets me giddy. It's basically a Monster-like Panigale (a Panigale without fairings, really), with a better seat height for me and a ton of pop.

I love the sport-bike looks (and love waving to sport-bike riders on the road), but the naked/standard class just speaks to me in a way that feels like "home". I also love the torque and mountain carving.

Amusingly, I've been monitoring this older Streetfighter on Copart for the last month - https://www.copart.com/lot/27356840 ... probably won't pull the trigger on a bid, but has my attention.

That 200bhp V4 Streetfighter is mental. Back in 2011 I has a Ducati Streetfighter S, It was my dream bike... the engine was an utter beast, and it looked bloomin awesome.... sadly, it handled like a bag of poop. I do still sort of miss it, I just couldn't get on with how bad it handled!

Most likely, if money weren't a problem....

I would like to own and ride an old WWII Ural motorcycle.
Preferable with an easy to detach sidecar ;)

Always hankered after a ZZR1400, too much money for me though.

I'm lucky to have been able to work on some stonking bikes that have belonged to frieds, which tends to keep my appetite in check.

Other than that I've always just had whatever bike it was that took my fancy, and fitted my budget. Swapped a lot, had more bikes than years ive been riding.

Lucky enough my dream bike is the one I own right now, my 2018 Honda Goldwing DCT Tour:

DSCN1199.JPG

It's just the best bike I've ever owned or ridden. It's comfy, does long distance like a champ, is great fun in the twisties, has incredible features and tech, has more HP and torque than any other bike I've ever owned, and it has Honda reliability.

Every time I look at it I just smile from ear to ear!

Dream bike eh?
ell, there's not ONE. There are quite a few bikes I'd buy more or less immediately if I won lotto.
Like a green frame Ducati obviously.
and a Ducati 916 would be VERY desirable for me BUT way too small physically to ride with any comfort :)

As far as sports bikes - I like MV Agusta's and the KTM Super Duke. and Kwaka H2 supercharged thingy.
Classic bikes - Benelli Sei would be on the list as would a few others.

But I'm a 'Guzzi' bloke and would buy a California of the current and previosu generations, and a Le Mans or three.....

As far as an 'achievable' bike I'd buy NOW if I could afford it... Suzuki DR650.
You could call it a dream bike as I've been wanting one for ages.

But I also have a 'dream bike'. My Suzuki GSX1400. Does so many things well, and is great fun!

I'd love MG to bring back the Le Man with looks either a bit retro or like the MGS-01
