Sub for sub swap on YouTube

I remember when this was common on art sites like Deviantart, turns out I still only got a few subs by trading like this. In the end it was producing art of the current meme that gained me a following. Eventually I stopped doing fanart and it all faded away.

Can't say I believe it will work this time either. GLHF.

I’ve picked up about 20 subs this week, so I’m pretty happy with that. I have also been interacting a bit more (my wife is out of town) so that helps too.

How I do it:
- I will never do a sub for sub
- I will sub to someone if I can or want to, not because of sub for sub
- I will not tell them that I have subbed to them
- I admit I cannot be watching everything from everyone, but when I do, I will leave a comment on the video on YT

So if I do sub to anyone of you (I'm pretty sure I'm subbed to most already), you are not compelled to sub back, I'm not asking for that.. I will do my best to help if I can or want to, as mentioned.

The end game of this is not to rely entirely on sub for sub, just regard it as a "starter pack" just to help you get a start on things.

Just a suggest everyone. This suggestion is for folks that participate in this social experiment.

Make your subscription list public on your channel and/or comment on the channels you subscribe to every now and then.

I was disappointed to see a recent decrease in a number and when I checked if I was on their list still I was not. I double checked the comments from my community and they were MIA.

Now some folks keep their sub list private which is their choice, however those folks comment so I know they are at least watching.

Like I said, just suggestions.

I still watch . I just have a bad habit of not commenting or liking. You're one of the main vloggers I watch

Pretty good idea. I don’t necessarily agree with the post count. Not just because mine is low. I’m new and it’ll go up. I’m usually pretty active once I find a good forum. However, does your post count matter much? I mean the idea is to get subs and help eachother out. If I sub to your channel I’m helping out. Does it help out less because I’ve only got s few post? On the other hand I could see it as a way to bring traffic up on the site as well. Which is important as well.

I'm not interested at all in sub4sub but this forum is a community, not just a place to come in and get subs and leave. Post count rules encourage folk to interact which keeps forums alive. So that is why there is that rule.

Also like many people have said before there's no point in gaining subs if they don't watch and most people who sub4sub just use you to increase their own subcount and will never click on your page again.

Turkey and swiss for ham on rye?

Hey, now that I got your attention I have a serious question.

What would you do in the following case concerning sub4sub...

While patrolling for who jumped ship I noticed a couple who motovlog together that I watch and comment. Great folks and she seems to take lead. When I was checking out who they subbed to I saw a huge list but the couple only had 120 followers.

It made me think since they are new to the game that perhaps they were being taken advantage of. I thought about pming them and share my concern but it is so past my bedtime that I am second guessing that.

Should I pm them or just leave it alone? What would you do and why?

I read that twice and did not understand .. the actual issue. What do you mean they're being taken advantage of?

Sorry about that. Here is what I am seeing they have that makes concerned:

*They have subbed to over 500 motovloggers. Only a handful are the big ones.

*They only have 120 followers.

So either they just like subbing or
maybe they subbed but get no sub in return.

Should I even worry about it? From my interactions with them, they seem like nice folks.

I watch a ton of videos, for entertainment, education, DIY etc... I don't comment or like as much as I view. I think it is ok. When I do comment it is because something hits home, resonates, or I actually want to interact. Mostly I am passive in my viewing.

being passive is lazy in my opinion. That isn't a dig, I just think that if someone has entertained you for 10min ish then they deserve a like and a comment at least. I am sure you'd like your channels to grow, they only do that when folk interact with your content.... so why should they bother if you don't? Don't get me wrong, if you don't enjoy the content of someones channel then no point liking it.... but also no point subbing or watching their content.
If folk don't interact that means to me that they don't enjoy the content. Growing a channel is a 2 way thing, give back to the community what you would like to recieve! :-)

I know what you are saying, I get it....I do comment on videos that I enjoy or grab my attention. Just as a percentage of what I watch it is smaller. Also when I watch videos on my TV I don't have the ability to comment. I most I follow or subscribe to I do make comment, but so much of stuff I watch just auto plays and I get down some interesting holes in YouTube...

I wouldn't worry about it. What's is hurt for them to have subbed to a bunch of channels?

My favorite comment was one someone had after I replied to their comment on one of my old videos. They were suprised . . .
