It's that time of year again folks! This will be the official 2015 Ozarks Meet-up repository. I will continuously update this first post as information becomes more complete. I do not participate on Facebook, so if someone here would please relay information in this post to those on Facebook I'd appreciate it. :)

~~~~~~
When: May 15-18
Where: Quality Inn Clarksville (Hotel rate info post here) <- click
1167 S. Rogers Ave.
Clarksville, Arkansas 72830
(479) 754-3000
Manager: Deanna Holman
What: Riding - lots of it. Socializing in the evening afterwards.
~~~~~~

Event plan is to arrive sometime on Friday, May 15th. We will ride Saturday (16th) and Sunday (17th), and leave for home on Monday (18th). Of course, you are free to arrive earlier and/or stay later, as there are many great roads to ride that we will not touch in 2 days.

Saturday Route: TBA (hint..... a return to Push Mountain Road)
Sunday Route: TBA (requests, anyone?)

Routes will meander through the Ozark and Boston Mountain region of north-central Arkansas. Roads tend to be on the technical side, i.e. twisty, hilly and inviting of a quick pace. In the past couple years, we had enough people to divide into 2 groups. We have a PERFECT safety record with this event and stress to all to ride within their comfort level.

Trip tips:

1. The road surfaces are mostly chip-and-seal. They are rough and accelerate tire wear. If you don't think you have at least 1,000 miles of wear left in a tire, you need to get a new one. There are literally no places in the area to buy tires except Little Rock or Russellville, and the problem compounds itself on weekends.

2. Bring rain gear unless the forecast calls for near-zero chances. Like any hilly region, weather changes fast. Also a sweatshirt or light jacket to lounge around in case it's cool. Weather is hit or miss. We do ride in light rain. We have also ridden in very thick fog.

Don't forget the tar snakes. Nothing like leaning over and feeling the bike dance around you when it's so hot outside that you could cook ramen in the pool.

$65 per night

MotoVlog Group Rate will be $65.00 plus tax per night for a 2-Queen bed room. I was told we can have pretty much any room for that rate, except the "Jacuzzi" suites. Be sure you mention that you are with MotoVlog to get the group rate - we are getting a discount. They have blocked off 13 rooms for our group, but can only hold them until mid-April. I have asked that our rooms are adjacent as possible, and they will try their best within the layout of the building. This looks like a pretty nice place, very similar to the Best Western we stayed at in Russellville.

Apparently, there is a lot going on in that area for our time of the year. Just about any decent motel gets booked up. Deanna has asked that if there is a possibility you might go - reserve your room now. You can always back out if needed later (check motel reservation cancellation policy).

Route plan for Saturday:
283 miles
Lunch at Cody's in Fixty-Six, AR.

That looks like a great ride. It would be great to test out my bike's traction control feature on that. Where would the gas stops be? Would there be an Arkansas Dragon and Pig Trail ride as well???

lol... Traction control? I'm afraid if your CTX traction control is kicking in on these roads, your sphincter will be the immediate concern. :)

Depends on what folks' fuel range look like, most likely Harriet and then Marshall. Until I see what everyone is riding, we are just speculating.

This route encompasses lower 123, which is the bottom 1/3 of the Arkansas Dragon. Gave up the intense middle section in lieu of going over to Push Mountain Road. Make no mistake, this route is a real workout, lol.

Oh ok. :)

LOL, I look forward to it. :)

Oh ok, thanks for the information. I would like the .gpx file as well. I will be coming from NW Arkansas. I see it under 2015 Possum Pie Run on Facebook.

I'm planning on going. Probably bring the Z1000 again, it usually gets 120 to 140 mpg (4 gallon tank) depending my wrist. ;)
