I probably ride less in the summer than I do the rest of the year. Mainly because I live in Texas, and July and August it is brutally hot those two months. Temperatures are close to 100 degrees and above most of the time. The rest of the year it's pretty nice, with the occasional freezing cold day in the winter.

Being 18 its all year for me. Has been since 2015. At my age car insurance starts from about £1400 where as my bike costs £170. Not to mention the fact that I only do 100 miles a week meaning I can make a 10.7 litre tank last around 2 weeks. The first CBT I took it was overcast when we were practising but 5 minuites into the ride it was quite windy. Even got wet on the way back to the centre.

Insurance is a pisstake!!

I ride every day I have to go to school. Don't want to use the car because I hate it.
Car isn't mine anyway, but it always sits in the garage :')
The winters aren't that hard here in Belgium so I can get around with riding in the winter.
Ice, snow? I ride in both, all roads are salted here.

Good weather only for me. I have been caught in a few showers but not enjoyable.
I sometimes go out on a clear Winter day but that's few and far between.
...and I don't give a **** what 'all year riders' think :p

pussy :D ;)

anyyyyway, i totally get why summer riders only stick to summer. If i had the option, i would too. But sadly, My bike is a tool as well as my passion. I've taken public transports to get to work etc....never...again will i endure such pain. Why stand around cold waiting for a bus/train making no progress whatsoever to get to warmth. The time the bus/train arrives i could be at work hugging a radiator and drinking a hot chocolate.

Sadly my commute to work is only going to get longer.. 78+ miles longer.. and will take roughly 2 hours. As im going to moving within the next two months by looks of it.

Soo how much is a car license in total in this country? :D

I'm fortunate enough to live in a place where year-round riding is a thing. Summer is a little tough in Florida but not for the heat. The afternoon thunderstorms are pretty nasty. They're short, but unpredictable. Makes using my bike as a commuter a little sketchy.

Tampa is known as the Lightning Capital of the US (hence the name of our hockey team). 2nd highest lightning strike count in the world on an annual average.

i ride all year round unless its pouring down or ice on the roads, i just make sure i am fully prepared when i go out (i.e waterproofs, tyre weld, things like that) and keep an extra eye on other road users and the road its self

Trying to move to the FL myself as i have family resided there. Still a long way away yet. But eventually dream will be made reality hopefully! I can only picture the smile i will have when riding in winter and its 25 celcius lol and not -3 celcius

Hey there, I'm from the lightning capitol of the world (Johannesburg, South Africa). I've only ridden in lightning once, when I got hit by a freak unexpected storm. At one point I was completely drenched and lightning struck close, I felt a tingle in my handle bars. Needed to change pants after that.

That would scare the crap out of me too! I don't ride when lightning and storms are forecasted within a couple hours. Just never know what can happen. Glad you made it out of that!

Lol, my first riding lesson was in a storm and lightning. Luckely not like your experience with your handlebars. I should've changed my pants too.
