What Is The Coldest Weather You Have Ridden In?

You might think im crazy but I have ridden in 12 inches of snow along with compact snow on the road acting like a sheet of ice. Did I come off? nope. Relax it wasnt on the R6, it was the 125 :)

Being lucky enough to live in Florida the coldest conditions I've had to deal with are upper 40s. That's not too bad if I bundle up, riding year round is great.

Back in the Netherlands it was below zero. Snow... Two feet on the ground, 3rd gear and keep going. It was a light 50cc bike when I was a teen. I would not have attempted such a thing on the XJ900...

Even though I live in California, the coldest I rode was during December and it was about 29 F. Just a wee bit chilly. Haha.

-5ºC for me. Rode out of London one morning at a 'comfortable' 2º. By the time I'd got out of the city I had to stop and warm my hands on the engine every 10 miles!!

Seeing that it is winter, I was wondering what is the coldest weather you have ridden in. Being in San Diego I would have to say for me it would be about 47 degrees. I know that's not cold for some of you but for me, it was freezing haha.

Coldest so far is 43 degrees, of course with the wind chill it was below freezing

I've ridden well below 0ºc before, it's essential to have heated grips, muffs, and lots of layers!

However despite the sub zero temps being the coldest I've ridden in, I've ridden in conditions where it wasn't as cold but due to crap gloves, no heated grips or muffs, and not wearing proper gear, I've absolutely frozen my bollocks off in pissing rain in relatively cold weather.

How cold it is depends how prepared you are ;)

NOPE..lol to cold for me!

I dont blame you for thinking so! Sometimes I wonder why I ride in such harsh weather, then I realize this is Britain and I've developed an apathy towards caring about weather conditions due to the constant realization every day that it's always going to be cold and miserable hahahaha.

Nah I'm kidding it's not that bad, I'm glad I don't live in areas where there's more to complain about than just being cold. Like in TA-Tauren's post, 12 inches of snow!

I quit my pizza job because it got very cold and the workplace was taking the piss. I got a video where I'm briefly ranting about that actually lmfao.

I ride year round in England, no matter what the weather. And allot of my riding is late at night, so way below 0 degrees! All part of the fun though, get wrapped up and get stuck in ;)

Your toes are the least your worries! It's your face, neck and legs that get it worst :( and just take it slow! Cold tyres are never fun to ride on XD
So basically you need a nice pair of long johns (or two), a good balaclava and just good layers all around and you should be good. I still can't help but think that the cold would still find a way to penetrate the layers no matter what though, it always seems to. haha

Ahh the joys of being well wrapped up on a bike. I never worried about my face apart from my nose, and if it was really bad then over the insulated balaclava I'd shove a scarf too to protect my neck. Legs can only be saved with more fairings though XD

So really all I'd get is chilly legs and a red nose. Rest was all catered for. Maybe those weaknesses will be considered in future winters but it's nearing spring here in London so I don't have to fret for a good while yet!
