What Is The Coldest Weather You Have Ridden In?

Today was miserable here, got caught in a heavy hail storm on the way home. I estimate the wind speed was between 20- 25 mph. Made for some interesting riding.

The coldest I've ridden in was probably close to -5F at 80mph, so the wind chill was floating around -44F. I was crying in my helmet from the pain. That was over a year ago and I still have sensitivity issues with one of my hands. Be careful, please!

You could have killed yourself :o !!! Man, I couldn't imagine riding when it's so cold :( ...

...I guess you could say lesson learned though :p ;) . What a lesson :p !

What's the coldest it's been in Yorkshire the last 3 winters? No idea, but I commute 15 miles to leeds in it everyday and there has only been 3 days where I chose not to ride, and they were due to wind twice and ice still covering the main road once.

Recently added heated grips though. Should have done that two years ago. It's a breeze now

For sure! And that was with heated gloves. Way beyond recommended riding temps.

I've never ridden in snow but have in a hail storm - that hurt especially as no neck scarf at the time! I think the coldest was -2 Celsius or for some of u thats 28 fahrenheit :)

...or 271.15 Kelvin  .....

My dad, when he was younger, once rode in a hailstorm out on the highway in the countryside without any gloves on... I understand that he got knicked up pretty badly ;) ~.....

wow his knuckles must of been red raw!!

I have ridden in 8 degree weather, and it does not bother me, as long as I am prepared for it, and it is not snowing or freezing rain. Riding in the cold does not bother me at all, in fact, it is invigorating in my opinion. :) LOL

I've ridden in 5 degree weather, but that wasn't too bad. What was bad was the other week I took a 400 mile ride, initially it was a nice ~50 degrees out, about an hour in the temperature dropped to 30, and then to 20. I was wearing 3 layers of clothes at that point and I still had to stop every 30 minutes or so because I kept losing feeling in my hands and feet.

See The cold doesnt bother me so much, you get better gear as you go, im still reluctant to get heated grips yet due to having gloves that are soo thick that im not sure id benefit from them.

I figured I wouldn't benefit from heated grips since I have heated gloves. On a recent trip one of the filaments in my right glove broke. I turned on my grips and the heat from the grip heated up the filament inside the glove and provided a tiny bit of heat. You can pick up a pair of grips cheap, and its worth it- especially when its too warm for heated gear, but too cold for warm weather gear.

Well to update the day before Valentines day I rode in 24 (F) with 20+ degree windchill.
Even bundled up it was not "fun" but the only thing that actually felt the cold was my hands.
