I do once in a while mainly on the highways in high traffic not so much on the streets. Dude's be bugging out when you cut them off..lol. Doubt it's legal in NY

It's somewhat illegal in Texas. I say "somewhat" because there is no actual law saying "motorcycles can not lane split", but there is a rather vague law that says:
(a) An operator on a roadway divided into two or more clearly marked lanes for traffic:

(1) shall drive as nearly as practical entirely within a single lane; and

(2) may not move from the lane unless that movement can be made safely.

- Most cops interpret it to mean lane splitting is illegal.

That said, I do it every now and then when some slow asses have created a rolling roadblock or if traffic is stopped and I don't want my bike to overheat. I will filter at traffic lights, too.

In Texas you will get horn honks, dirty looks, middle digits and occasionally a homicidal asshole who tries to hit you or pull his vehicle over the line to block you. Drivers in Texas are dicks.

I occasionally filter up to the front at red lights if I am attempting to take a free right, but I do not lane split. People in Washington, especially the greater Seattle area, already don't pay attention and are oblivious to bikes. No need to make matters worse.

IM FROM NEW YORK.I'V DONE IT BEFORE BUT IT GET'S ME NERVOUS BECAUSE I'V HEARD OF PEOPLE DOING IT AND SOMEONE DECIEDS IT'S OK TO OPEN THERE CAR DOOR AND THE GUY GOES FLYING OFF.IT'S CRAZY

It's not legal in Georgia...but I do occasionally, depending on my mood and the reason why I'm contemplating doing it.

I do not lane split, mostly because I live in a sparsely populated area and ride mainly on two-lane roads. It's extremely extremely rare that I'm in traffic on a 4+ lane highway

I split all the time it's one of the biggest perks of riding and motorcycle. From Riverside, California.

I would split every day if it were legal here in Virginia. Since it is not and you get caught its an automatic Reckless driving ticket. Since I pay my mortgage with my license, I don't think it is worth it for me to risk the ticket.

This one would be a question for a judge or maybe lawyer. Here is a direct quote of the law in my province:
- 478.No person may drive a motorcycle or a moped or ride a bicycle between two lines of vehicles moving on contiguous lanes.

My question would be, since the law states that vehicles have to be moving for us to not lanesplit, if traffic is stopped, do you think it is a legal thing to do? Honestly, what bugs me a lot is the word MOVING.

Contiguous lanes (to me) suggests multiple lanes in the same direction, so filtering would be permitted where there are two lanes with opposing flow, or filtering between traffic and a kerb.

I live in Western New York and the only reason I don't lane split is because it's illegal and I don't want to be drawing any more attention to myself than is necessary.. However, I should state that if it's an emergency, (late for work, need to catch up to another rider, saw a hot girl in a car, etc.) I will lane split when needed

I don't lane split, because in the state of Nevada it is illegal.

I wish i could though without getting in trouble.

I do it, it is legal here and next to the fact that it safes time and it is less hot then standing still it is also way more safe.

Sometimes just for the fun i drive a bigger ride back to home, just to make sure i can do some lane-splitting, also helps to calm the nerves ;)

I live in missouri it's illegal to bla bla bla blaaaaaaaaa missouri drivers would kill 99% of you because they are just that stupid.
