We welcome everyone to come and share their videos. We love finding new motovloggers and fully support you all where we can.
However, motovlog.com is not a dumping ground for your videos so we have come up with some simple rules for this section.
- To post in this section you need to have 5 posts per 7 days in other areas of the forum
- You can reply to posts within this section but you CANNOT reply with your video posts (unless the OP has asked you to)
- You cannot promote yourself or others in someones thread unless asked
Why have we made this rule?
- Reduce the number of low quality posts to this section
- Encourage members to be more interactive with motovlog members (We don't owe you views, you earn them)
- Give those who interact with the forum more exposure while getting rid of the people who joined just for this section.
We don't owe you or your channel anything, if you want us to check out your videos, give us a reason for it and get involved.
I have a question: What is meant by low quality posts? I understand this policy and I get where you are coming from but I feel a little conflicted. On the one hand I agree that spamming this section with vids needs to be controlled, but on the other hand, not everyone has a lot of time to spend on forums. Motovlogging is a hobby for me and so I can only afford so much time and money on it (I'm sure this describes a fair amount of people). I post videos here hoping for constructive feedback and I always thought this was a nice, low stress venue for that.
I agree this would drive people who don't want to be involved in the community away, but it might also drive away people who DO want to be more involved, but for various reasons may not be able to (I'm thinking especially of older people who may not be so forum savvy or people in grad school!!!) It just seems kind of elitist or exclusionary and not in a good way, if you know what I mean. Like you are saying, "we only want a certain kind of vlogger here". Which is totally the right of this forum to do. I just think it's a little unfortunate to not be inclusive because I have up until this point really appreciated the inclusivity of smaller vloggers.
Some of us are just amateurs and probably that's all we'll ever really be, but I enjoyed being able to have sort of an equal playing field as better vloggers because I just think everyone improves when we can all play the game, ya know what I mean? I've seen lots of vloggers, like older vloggers and cruiser vloggers, or scooter vloggers, atv vloggers etc. that don't normally get too much exposure and I think that's a nice change of pace because motovlogging has become a homogenous stew of supermotos and rage faces, not that there's anything wrong with that! But getting to see less popular vloggers and check out their channel then making that choice to sub them or not myself was kind of a nice option to have.
Sorry, if anyone finds this offensive. I'm just thinking there's some other factors to consider with this policy and what it says about our attitudes toward each other. Like maybe you could create a separate thread for posting vids of less active members? This way people who don't think these vids are worthy can avoid them like the plague but those of us still interested in checking out less internet saavy vloggers could still find these videos? Again, like you said this forum doesn't owe anyone that, I just really enjoyed that aspect of this community and I'd be sad to see it go.
