So most of you probably clicked this thread to see the list but actually, this is more of a question. I noticed on our forum here we don't seem to have a beginner's guide.

Every topic has probably been discussed but I've blown hours on reading and almost getting no where, so let's turn my thread here into something useful for newbies.

- Which program do you guys recommend, yes Premiere Pro is the god! Sony Vegas seems to be favoured by so many though? Movie Maker is a no go! Final Cut are for the Apple lovers.

- 30fps vs. 60fps / Seems to me like this is camera dependant, some apparently just replicated the additional 30 frames? so it depends on your action cam.

- Rendering settings for YouTube?

- What tips can you provide in terms of content?

- How do you convince people to subscribe to your channel?

im having good luck with gopro studio, its quick and easy, i have final cut, but its kinda laggy...i havent found a big need for it yet, and it came on my wifes laptop, so i just transferred it to mine lol

I shoot in 60fps, render in 60fps, and export in 60fps. i was seeing major quality differences at speed with 30fps. so thats just me

when i upload to youtube at 1080p 60fps it doesnt seem to degrade quality. check your export settings in whatever software youre using

- What tips can you provide in terms of content?
be yourself, be concise, be interesting, and switch it up every now and then

- How do you convince people to subscribe to your channel?
i have an "outro" so to speak, where i say the same thing, and i put a subscribe button within the last 10 seconds of every video i load. i only have 50 subs at this point. but ive only been doing this since february, so i dunno if its really all working or not.

- AdSense Tips?
I have an amazon associates account with links to my gear and stuff...i have yet to make anything off of that, i dont even know how to set up any specifics on my google account so thatas a good question...

Yes, Sony Vegas is what I use, only because it is user friendly. But I hate it because it is poorly optimized and severely lacks features that are present in Premiere Pro, especially when I am editing more serious productions in my other channel dedicated to videography. But for regular vlogging it's fine.

I shoot mostly 60fps for vlogs. For anything more cinematic like vanity shots and serious productions, 30fps is better. Lowering fps is the quickest method to getting a more vibrant picture at the cost of motion blur. This is because you are halving your shutter speed and doubling the time your shutter is open to obtain light with any given frame.

H264 rendering, MP4 container. Just use the same bitrate that your source file is at.

- What tips can you provide in terms of content?

The motorcycling portion is icing on the cake. Unless you're a serious racer who can actually give good lessons on riding, or an experienced mechanic who can give good maintenance or build tips, nobody actually watches you for good advice or solid opinions on motorcycling. Make your videos to entertain, inject personality to it, let them live out an interesting experience they can never get out of themselves, even if they ride. Be like their best friend.

- How do you convince people to subscribe to your channel?

Good content brings in subscribers.

- AdSense Tips?

Check the Google FAQ on this. Set it up, and then forget about it. It's a waste of time intensely watching your Adsense income.

love my Sony Vegas Pro 13, but considering trying out final cut as many are using it... 30fps for night and 60fps for daytime. as far as content, youtube seems to love drama, rage and crashes, but advertisers dont anymore, there isnt a magic formula it seems.

I am a huge gearhead other than just riding and am starting to creep videos of cruises and car shows and friends custom or race cars and trucks and bikes.
Huge family man so I involve the kids and maybe can draw a bigger crowd of diverse age groups .

=I pay most but the guys and gals i've gained here were just lucky ones who got in free....
And I try my darndest to interact with all my subscribers . I return all actions . You like one of mine i'll watch more of yours to find ones I like.

I started with just Movie Maker, it's fine to start off, I don't see why not since it's free to begin with. Currently using FCPX just cause I needed a new laptop and I already have a couple of Windows laptop so why not a Mac so I can act like a hipster at cafes.

I just roll with 1080p @ 60fps

For FCPX just make sure the event/project baseline is set to 1080p / 60 fps and sound is the default one, sorry I can't recall the exact settings right now.

Present what you like to present, preferably based on your experience, don't try to talk about things you never did or tried yet.

- How do you convince people to subscribe to your channel?

I don't really do that "like me! sub me! follow me! share me!" thing. Most of the time I don't even mention that I do videos or I'm on YouTube as I prefer to be low profile and I reward the ones that manage to call me out if they spot me.

- AdSense Tips?

Once you are qualified, just set it up and continue doing what you do. If it generates money, treat it as pocket money, for a snack, a meal, maybe a service, camera upgrade, etc. Don't expect to be rolling in mountains of cash.

What is the set up of your PC? Im afraid thth my old PC doesnt support adobe premiere, by now im using camtasia studio which is very easy to use.

Renders everything quite fine, no issues - As long as you run the major software on the Nvidia card.

Start with Davinci Resolve (free) to learn workflow before paying for Premiere or Final Cut. If your PC is not an editing rig, use proxy files effectively (google proxy files) it will save your butt and your computer.

1080p h.264 variable bitrate 20 max bitrate 25. Hardware and video quality are factors. Youtube is finicky so still playing with these.

To each his own. There is an audience for all types of content. Mine is completely different than most.
Just be forward with your ideas, and stick with them.

Stay engaged, respond to all the comments. Use multiple social media channels.
I'm still new and focused on my branding and building my social channels. I don't believe there is a magic formula besides consistency.

- AdSense Tips?
None. You really have no say until you are considered an influencer. You need to first focus on audience engagement because without that retention you have no AdSense.

I use premiere pro . difficult at first but you can save everything as presets that will speed up your workflow by a lot.

As for now I use 30fps mostly even I use Hero5 recording at 60fps. Easily slow down footage without jerky motion.

I will try to go for high bitrate 1080p as for now due to my PC is lacking of resource.

my target audience are mostly locals. Working content around local content.

Removed all ads after youtube have changed their policies. I being to find out that I motovlog or create videos for the passion not the money.

My channel is really small. I cherish everyone of my subs as they are generic people that watches my videos. Never know I will even hit 1000 subs on my channel. Doing it for my kids so they grow up able to watch this videos that I've created.

The program I'm most accustomed to is Sony Vegas (I prefer and have the Studio Pro 12). It feels pretty intuitive and I've not had any issues (other than a crash every now and then, but that's on me lol).

I have an older Hero4/Hero3, but record at 2.7k at 60fps with my Hero 4, and downsample the 2.7 to 1080. (my computer isn't a super computer.)

Render settings: Internet HD1080p at 59.94 FPS

Content tips: I'm still trying to figure that one out! Some tips I still carry with me are, don't ramble on about what you're about to talk about it, unless there's a story. Don't have a lot of random dead pauses. Engage the audience (or try to). Be genuine!

Convince people to subscribe: I haven't figured that out either lol. I'm staying away from buying subs or doing massive click-bait tactics. I have read that the earlier videos need to be more of a "popular demand" style to get people initially in.. dunno about me doing that though.

Ads: I don't. I don't know if I will ever though.


Biggest reminder that I'm telling myself is do it for the fun. I've seen others get burned out because they're obsessed about views/subs. I enjoy the process of recording and editing, so as long as it's fun, there shouldn't be burnout.

From personal experience (which is limited mind you)

1. I shoot videos in 30 fps - they take less space & I do not need 60 fps as I don't roll in slow motion. Output usually goes down to 24 fps anyways.
2. Render settings for YT varies with what SW you use - for Premier Pro I go with 1080P/NTSC/23.976FPS/CBR 40 Mbps/Max Render Quality. This ensures the quality of the OG video is retained as YT heavily processes it for upload.
3. Be yourself - overstated but truth.
4. I'm still trying to figure out how to build a sub base - it's hard, there aren't real shortcuts - I would say focus on Ads/view count for organic growth thru AdSense - but most importantly hone your craft & produce the best content.

I noticed that this thread is a bit old, but I'll share my experience anyway.

I have been working with Filmora. It's simple and not complicated at all. It works fine. Shure, it has it's own limitations, but you don't need to take workshops like other softwares, if you know what I mean.

Regarding fps, I allways film in 60 fps, because of the motorbike speed. 2.7K is the definition, enough to be able to zoom in in postedition. Why not 4k? Because my computer will be extremely slow.
