What Have You Done To Your Bike Today?

Needed to clean to fuel system again ...

On Friday I pulled the injectors and cleaned them and the rails. Made no difference in the issue. So I decided to pull the tank and clean the filter/pump.

Well, it had a full tank. I dumped fuel everywhere and ruined the paint on the tank.

So, today I fully drained the tank, pulled it, pulled fuel pump, cleaned, reassembled pump.

Then took the tank out, sanded it, cleaned it, masked it, pained it, cleared it.

Then reinstalled the pump and put the bike back together.

Still runs like shit. So, awesome.

How did you clean your injector? We usually just take a air hose and put it on the sprayer side and give it a couple blasts. You will see something come out if it's clogged. Sometimes they have a fuel filter added on to the bottom right where the gas comes out of the tank and it will be super dirty. If it's bad might as well change it. That will cause it to run rough.

Since the rails were clean I just bumped a little carb cleaner in both sides. They are low mileage and came with the new TBs.

I would just run some air threw it. You never know. I'm guessing your fuel finger might be clogged. Or the pressure regulator is acting up.

I cleaned filter ... at least the primary sock at the bottom. FPR was my thought too, but it does sound like it drops to one cylinder, and a fuel issue would affect both. Just not sure.

I had a bike that was running weird then just stopped running all together. It ended up being the ecu. We cleaned the fpr it was a little stuck also. Have you checked the plug just to get a little read on it to see what might be happening?

That's going to be my post for what I did today. lol. I'm going to toss a timing light on to check the coils on each side then pull plugs. I'm thinking there is a chance that the initial fueling issue could have fouled a plug and the overlap of the issues is causing my confusion.

I think I got it sorted. Checked for spark coming from coil and both were good. Pulled rear plug (easiest to get to) and it was wet, so that could easily be the problem cylinder.

Noticed that the plug wire was a little loose at the plug. pulled it apart while inspecting and planned to buy another wire. Turns out the wire is part of the coil and not cheap. Panicked, then learned that they are designed to be screwed in to the wire.

Trimmed back the wire about 3/8" and screwed in the plug till it was secure. Reinstalled and viola, runs great.

At some point that wire got loose (probably when I swapped plugs during the build) and just slowly worked itself looser.

Still not sure why it was only at idle though ... maybe more current could jump the loose connection?

Either way, it looks to be fixed. And I've got an even cleaner tank now. I also took the opportunity to set the TPS adjustment for the new TBs, ran some injector cleaner and did a top engine clean with Seafoam while I was in there.

I'm stealing this idea from another forum, because I feel as if it creates nice conversation and the occasional post from time to time.

The concept is simple...do something to your bike today and want to share? Post it here. For example: I changed the oil today / gave the bike a nice wash / I beat my girl up on some back roads. Anything will do. Have a picture? then post that as well!

Doesn't have to be something you did that exact day, could be a few days old.

I will start:

I changed out the spark plugs on my F4i because the bike randomly did not want to start anymore. Now it's running much better.
AHHH Razzi shut down, hosted images have been lost

The plugs looked like this. I believe it's because the previous owner did not take the bike out much, and only let it idle in the garage all the time.

Knocked it over and in return got a custom clutch lever and fairing design :D

yea that tends to happen allot on dirt bikes and quads. i have to trim the wire quite often.

Started the resurrection of my cafe project with a goal of finishing it by the end of the month (at least being able to ride it, as some things will take a while to be made just right). One of those things that will take a bit, the cafe seat using the old Seca II seat pan. Here's the mock up for the abs pieces to be done later

Got my Kawasaki KX250 ready to go riding this weekend it's been a couple of years. Oil change, adjust everything, lube adjusted the chain. Cleaned the gas tank new fuel and new 2 stroke mix. New airfilter. Checked blots bolts bolts, checked out the tires, new spark plug, checked the spokes and locks, washed and plastic wax. She looking good.

I rode it to work and flipped off a guy for tailgating me. He was mad that I passed him GOING THE SPEED LIMIT!
gotta be careful doing that , some people may run you over...
Today Pieced back together the Kawasaki KLR that almost killed me and got it running again + new rear tire and Tube, and making another motor log about it..

A fiberglass seat pan. Molded fiberglass to my gram, took it off, sanded it and shaped it, put threaded rivers on it then foam and the vinyl.
Ahh , i can see that now after the pics was pop'ed up ... Never knew you could change or makes seats like that
