What Have You Done To Your Bike Today?

Finally did the bar end mirrors and just did the shorty levers on my ninja. The mirrors look ok, but the functionality is better for sure. Now the shorty levers are just bad ass.

I was riding today when it started t starve for fuel. Got it home took out the filter and it was full of rust (previous owners ran ethanol long term in it). Replaced the filter, put Sea Foam in it, ran around a few miles at high revs and it's still running like crap. I looked at the filter and it's only half full of gas, I guess it's time for a full system cleaning. I'm betting it's either the fuel pump is gummed up or I have a busted diaphragm on one of the carbs.

I put some sweet bar end mirrors on,

then the one fell off.

So now i have a sweet round mirror on my bar, but its in the middle

Added SC Project GP Evos to my R1 and got an ECU flash and tune. Pulls 158.9 hp.

Softail Bobber:

Finally installed my Dakota Digital (mini) HLY-3013 speedometer. Nothing fancy, just tells how fast, has odometer, and two tripmeters. All digital/electronic, transmission sensor picks up signal from 4th gear, digital readout only... easier (and more accurate) than guessing speed. A little solder and heat-shrink tubing makes short work of wiring the speedometer, included instructions were reasonably comprehensive.

If you have a project that needs a speedometer, and a bicycle computer/speedometer doesn't quite fit the bill... Dakota Digital is worth your consideration. The momentary switch included with speedometer didn't work with my 1/4" thick dash, so I substituted a momentary toggle switch. Only change necessary to an otherwise complete kit.

You could do a review of it. Be interested to know how it works and how accurate it is vs a sat nav

I used a Garmin GPS to calibrate the Dakota Digital speedometer, so they are in sync. Accuracy is determined by how carefully you calibrate... if you change gearing or tire size, recalibrate.

So far, speedometer is 100% reliable, with a 2 year warranty that I hope goes unused. Displays only MPH or miles (odometer or trip) at one time, not both. Blue digits on a black background... digits are about 1/2" tall, easy to read.

My Dakota Digital HLY-3013 is calibrated by one of two methods, autocal and adjust speed. I consider autocal the best/safest method, and adjust speed method a poor second that requires distracted vehicle operation.

Autocal counts the pulses received over a one mile distance, and uses this number to calculate calibration. The closer to a true (5280') mile, the better... I used google maps to estimate a one mile section of residential road. My measured mile equaled 68.2 pulse measurement. Using my Garmin GPS to check speed, I used a 68.0 pulse count for the final calculation/calibration... there's about 15 feet difference between 68.2 and 68.0 pulse difference with my Softail Bobber.

I finally got around to installing a full system Exhaust on my baby (IXIL hyperflow onto my 2013 ninja 650) and I also changed the rear sprocket (-3 tooth) and chain.

I will take some pics when I get home.

well.....i rode mine today when everyone else said its too chilly to ride....shhhhyeah right!

Took all the plastics off the bike cleaned, sanded, and repainting to a gloss white vs the flat white. Also the original paint was showing wear and had no clear coat so trying to do it up right n make it all perty.

Over the weekend:
We took a compact stebel nautilus horn.
Split it up bc the whole unit does not fit anywhere on a sports bike GSXR750 k6

had to run the tubing and protective sleeve up to the front
used good ol cable ties for the mounts to the existing rectifier (that was moved to the side because of common burnout issue in the factory position)

the compressor is in the tail.

loud as hell, used for lane drifters and left turners trying to kill me.

Photos are on my tumblr blog, but i cant post links yet, since i have not exceeded the mininum number yet.

Added some case sliders to my stator and clutch case over the weekend as well.
50 bucks off ebay
didnt want to do frame sliders.
Had to add some washers bc the bolts that came with the kit were too long.

Finally got my Leo Vince Exhausts fitted to my GSR! They sounds really amazing.
You can see them and hear them on my channel, Dark rider Motovlogs

Cant post links yet :(

I'm stealing this idea from another forum, because I feel as if it creates nice conversation and the occasional post from time to time.

The concept is simple...do something to your bike today and want to share? Post it here. For example: I changed the oil today / gave the bike a nice wash / I beat my girl up on some back roads. Anything will do. Have a picture? then post that as well!

Doesn't have to be something you did that exact day, could be a few days old.

I will start:

I changed out the spark plugs on my F4i because the bike randomly did not want to start anymore. Now it's running much better.
AHHH Razzi shut down, hosted images have been lost

The plugs looked like this. I believe it's because the previous owner did not take the bike out much, and only let it idle in the garage all the time.

Just washed it !
