Check out @SwissMotard 's post, he's done a vlog showing his setup with an external mic and battery pack into the same port. Fingers crossed GoPro release the same cable for the new camera's USB-C port

Hmm, yeah I could prob get one, But if I do I'll probably steer clear of the audio cable and just upgrade to a dedicated recorder while at it.

I enjoy the quality you get from those recorders but I spend enough time editing without syncing audio and having all this extra kit to deal with
 
I can't decide! I like the higher fps for 1080 and the waterproofing is great for the rain. Recording at 4k there is no advantage. Also, I like the Hero 4 allows you to charge the battery and use and external mic while riding and from the pics of the 5 it doesn't look that way. Image stabilization doesn't matter if you are recording video on a helmet. I can't decide. Need more information! Will for sure grab a cheap Hero 4 as a secondary if prices drop.

I'm in the same boat. If I do grab a 5 it won't be for motovlog work.

Hero 5 also allows mic and charging at the same time with a new version of the cable available for the 4.

Dude you're right. I actually do like that new connector, it's sweet. Is it worth spending (after taxes here) almost $500 to motovlog compared to the Hero 4 or even other brands? I'm still not sold. If I had the money for sure I would grab one. Really like the higher fps on the lower resolutions. That might make me jump. Or just get the drone :D
