My longest video is 1hr and 24min . But it was meant to be as a bonus video. Other than that Keeping them under 10 min helps me keep the video straight to the point and not veer off to other topics. Which also brough up the average view duration of my videos.

No, not really. The bike was new but already had a few problems that I had to sort out.

Got to be honest with the audience sometimes.

I recently did a live stream, first time ever trying that feature out, used my mobile phone to do it. That video was 2 hours 46 mins long, and it's on the channel, search "live stream" if you want to have a look.

My initial plan was to just set up the camera and go chill at the sofa since I didn't count on anyone watching the live stream (it was impromptu, no advance notice to subs, etc). However there were people that started to watch it and I ended up having to respond to live comments (i.e. "what are you doing to the bike" "gimme a shout-out") so I had to be at the phone all the time.

Pretty interesting though, having that live comment/feedback session going on with people I'll probably not be able to meet in real life due to different geographical location. Got me to thinking about having live AMA (ask me anything) sessions in the future.. Like maybe once a month which will be planned in advance, for like 15 minutes where people can jump in the stream and shoot their questions live on the spot so I don't need to prepare in advance. The video will be saved by YT and I can share it on the channel for those that missed out. We'll see how it goes.

Personally I try and limit myself to 8 minuites on a stanard motovlog. If its somthing special like RTTW then in that case it was 20 mins long

I try to keep my vlogs between 3 to 6 minutes until i build a higher viewer base.

Most of mine are between 3 and 5 minutes, but it all depends on what I'm doing. I do a combination of garage mods, rides, and events, so the times vary. It looks like my average view duration is just under 3 minutes, so that should probably tell me something. Of course, I only have 68 subs so I'm not reaching very many folks at the moment.

As long as it takes to tell the story as efficiently as possible. My first three motovlogs were around 10-12 minutes each. MotoVlog #4 was < 4 minutes.

I don't see motovlogs as just filming a ride, I see them as telling a story. Story is king, and everything else is only there to serve the king.

If you want to get it down to 3-5 minutes you’ll have to start cutting. And cut hard! It’s the only way to do it. In the business it’s called “killing your babies” although I always hated that phrase. Still, the idea is the same. You may like it, but does it move the narrative along? If not, cut it out!
Give it a try, you may surprise yourself.

I don't know if I should be posting this in the editing section or general discussion, but my question is "How long should a Motovlog be, to keep the audiences attention?" I imagine that once you have a relationship with the audience they will sit through longer videos, but I think that generally peoples attention span are getting shorter. They want to consume information and entertainment quickly and won't sit through a longer video unless, UNLESS they are really interested in the topic.
So my question is, what have you found from your analytics and feedback from subscribers is the ideal length for a Motovlog. What is the average length of time someone will watch one of your videos? Personally I think around 5 minutes is what most people will watch. As a Motovlogger / content creator I would like 8 minutes or more to say what I want to say etc. Any thoughts?

How interesting is it? Remove anything boring and then whatever length it is, is the perfect length.

A general rule of thumb (Boondock Saint's anyone?) is keep the video below 5 minutes (300s) at all costs. Unless I capture a helicopter performing an emergency landing on the 101 in broad daylight with bumper to bumper traffic - my content isn't interesting enough to surpass 300s. Quality always over quantity.
