Go Pro Stopping Recording On Its Own?

Marcus

Tremour Sphere
to try and resolve this issue i bought a 64gb sandisk extreme sd card for the camera to keep up with the write speed
my camera stops recording exactly 17.25 minutes in to a video
even with battery life left.
can someone explain to me why please?

Stops and starts another file? Or just stops that's it?

The file systems most cameras use are limited to 4GB file size, and at 1080/60, that's about 4GB. If you're not recording at that setting it maybe that it just caps the files at about that time, I think my baby GoPro does, as most files are around 2GB if I'm recording at half the res of 1080/30 (or 720/60 as it's a smiliar size per unit time as 1080/30)

No it just stops recording altogether it dosent start again and on 1080p 30fps it runs fine, bit 60fps it just stops on 17 minutes

I am not sure if this is a setting on your GoPro (many versions now a days), but is it possible that you have it set to only record for 17 min, then stop. That could explain why it is stopping at 17 min every time...

Size of the card doesn't matter. The class does. Make sure it's a class 10 one. Have you updated the GoPro to the latest version? If it stops EVERY TIME at the same time, could be a bug, or setting. I've had my shares of bad files / failed recording but mostly random.

for the class its a sandisk extreme, which is recommended on the go pro website for all settings :S..
also i found out it stops recording on SUPERVIEW it was fine on 1080 60fps none superview?
not sure why
it also seems to stop recording then turn itself off?
so if their is a sleep mode how do i stop it?

What model? I read something about the 3+ black doing this while shooting 1080X60 with WIFI on. I saw my black do this too, which my silver has never done...

The 3+ black edition, i have the option of sending it back or getting a replacement,
surely the black shouldn't just do that or the option is totally useless?
would i be better getting a hero 3+ silver?
i need some help here while i have the option
it seems to stop recording with the superview option .
with 1080 60fps none superview it records fine

Its not an actual change in resolution it essentially artificially stretches the image, kind of meh imo

Turn your WIFI off and see if it does the same thing

Hmm.. I swear when I compare Wide vs. Superwide there is a clear difference..

MicBergsma his video shows this perfectly! Maybe the difference isn't that big horizontally.. But vertically..

okay everyone i've found the problem.
if you dont have a card that has 45mb writespeed you need that (ihad that)
BUT
if you get a new card you need to do a firmware update to the card on its own not the camera,
i rang gopro and they told me this i tryed it and now it runs fine.
its a firmware issue so please remember that if you have the same issue
ill make a tips video on it fairly soon.
thanks so much for all your replies you guys rock!
