I believe whats happening is the camera is using the mem card to stage the firmware for the camera...

My hero 2 did this for a while but stopped doing it when I reformatted the card

Wonder if that would fix the Drift crashes people have been having? There's not a massive amount of difference in the way these things work deep inside the box.
