I live in Miami, Florida and its illegal to lane split. Yet i always carefully break the law, i lane split when i notice either theres over 15 mins of traffic, or that i see that im gonna have to wait more than 2 green lights in order for me to advance, or whenever im bored :) i always keep an eye out for police, and potential crashes. Careful guys!

Going to Orlando next year, was so tempted to rent a bike for one day, but its pretty expensive, you can't filter and I heard the traffic lights over there are slow

Luckily the weather isn't too hot, or humid.... Oh hang on...

I lane split when I'm being pointlessly put in danger. Two cars on the highway, on a two lane highway, doing the EXACT same speed side by side, with traffic stacking behind us, I'm splitting and getting away from that.

filtering and lane splitting is pretty much the same ting. You can lane split and high and low speed. However lane splitting cars at high speed it's something i would recommend :D

lane splitting and filtering is 2 different things, Lane splitting is going down the middle of normal speed traffic, and filtering is getting tot he front of static traffic.

I'd never really considered that there's a difference.

Just that 'filtering' was the mostly British term for it and 'lane-splitting' was the rest of the worlds term for it.

I always just thought that you could filter fast, filter in static traffic and everything in between. But still called it all filtering. Here in Germany its 'Durchfahren in Stauschlange' or something like that! Just rolls off the tongue!

take an air filter as example they filter air particles, the filter is the stood cars the bike is the air, And lane splitting is down the middle of 2 lanes going same way at speed usually speed limit

Haha. I imagine it more like a sieve. We are the sand that flows through the rocks.

I should be a poet.

In the UK, legally it's always filtering. Filtering at speed is illegal.
