Curious, What Is Your Day Job?

Well my plan was to be an accountant. I did loads of courses on it and then a family member became ill so I was out of work for a bit. Worked up to becoming a manager for a fast food place and then 2 people in my life became Ill… and boom. I became a full-time carer. Will be for life.

I really miss the 9-5s, even the days I did like 11am-1am. It seemed much easier in hindsight. Oh well, family is the most important thing in the world

I feared for a minute I might be resurrecting a long dead thread, but actually no... anyway... I work for the railway, normally at this point everyone thinks my job's something exciting or atleast interesting, like driver or maintenance or something like that, but no, I work in the ticket office.... well, I do for now....

I’m also a little late adding to this as it seems to have slipped under my radar even when I was much more active on here.

Here’s my list on how I keep myself on the right side of the law:
Graphic Designer with a focus on designs printed on clothing
Writer of books
Editor of books
Artesan - specifically in wood, leather, wax and facial hair products.
Coach for wrestling and Lacrosse.
Event DJ for Weddings, Parties, etc, and Back up Reverend (ordained thru the Universal Life Church with a focus on faith in the people I surround myself with) for the gentleman I work with DJing weddings. Luckily his voice has never given out on the 100ish wedding we have performed at.
Mechanic - preferable only typical maintainable items such as brakes or fluid changes on cars and bikes.

I'll throw my 50 pence in..
I'm a 'Cyber Engineer' for the British Army, specifically Network security/construction.
Although I am currently out of trade for 2 years whilst training recruits at basic training. Due to be posted back to a working unit December :)

I'm a research scientist in microbiology at University of Bristol! (officially 'Postdoctoral Research Associate')

I grow bacteria, and find out what happens in different experiments, then create mutants of them (like stopping certain genes from working) to see what effect that gene has on it's behaviour. I'm working on a bacterium that causes (among other things) pneumonia and ear/throat infections (Streptococcus pneumoniae), but my background is with the fungus Candida albicans in dentistry and oral microbiology :)
Take a look at my published research here
Slight improvement* in this since I last did it, now Lecturer (teaching focused), Senior Tutor, Admissions tutor and Unit director

*by improvement I mean they gave me more/different work, but do pay me more too which helps (still not enough though!))

Still yet to make a vlog though :(...still finding that first one hard to get done. I did do a load on my recent Welsh tour, but the audio didn't capture and now I haven't done it since despite fixing the audio issues

Edit it as best you can, render it, and then watch it and see what you think of it. Then decide if you want to upload it. Maybe it is good, maybe not, but you will learn from it.

Try not to think about how others will perceive it, you will only get to know that when other people start watching it. You will find an audience, and I think by being you, you will get the right one.
