Capable editing software for around £30?

I went for Power Director 12. Just been fiddling with a little test clip I took and so far I'm very impressed :)

I've been using Windows Live Movie Maker up until now D:

Afternoon, chaps.

Just thought I'd update this a bit and share my thoughts on Power Director 12 compared with Windows Movie Maker.

1. SPEED! You can throw your clips in and start working right away! Movie maker took bloody ages, something like half an hour for a 90 minute video.

2. SPEED!! PD12 can save at any point to a .pds file so you can go back to it later. I don't think WMM can do that, although never tried....

3. SPEED!!! Are you seeing a pattern yet? PD12 renders a 10ish minute video in about 2-3 minutes! At 1080p 30FPS MP4 :D

4. It seems to me that the only thing holding anyone back with this program is imagination. There are loads of videos online if you want to try something but don't know how to go about it.

5. Director Zone. This is a free to download and use site for Power Director users where you can grab anything from sounds to stencils FREE.

6. Very accurate editing with frame by frame scrolling, not every third frame like WMM and you can zoom in and out on the time line an absolutely pointlessly massive amount.

There are loads more things I can say about this program but I'm still new to it. The only thing WMM has over this is price being free. Mind you I only paid £30 for PD12. I have the Deluxe version so I am unable to make 3D videos but that's not something I'm worried about. Also I can't do PiP which is something I might want down the line, not sure yet.

If you're wondering what editing software to go for then give the trial a wirl, you can't go wrong.

It would appear I have become a fanboi.

yeah don't compare anything with WMM, that's just not fair, everything is faster...

Did you use PD12 to edit your last video? looks good :) but the audio could be better, microphone is too close and all I could here was you breathing

The cable one? I finished the editing off with PD12 but started it with WMM. Breathing was an issue on that one you're right, if I have another one while not on the bike I will relocate the mic. Thanks for that feedback mate.

What cam are you using? Drift? Turn the sensitivity down to one?

OR put the mic in the cheek of your helmet

Yeah it's a Drift and is set to 1. The mic is set juuuuust poking the tip out from the cheek pad. It's clear though for non riding videos it needs to be tucked away a little more.

I have mine actually in the cheek pad, no pokey pokey :)

You don't really need it right near your mouth to be honest, not if it's a proper drift mic anyway - Just my words of wisdom
