Get the right bike and the right gear and any distance is do-able (within reason of course)

But anyway i digress, i think you misunderstood Friz there

Yeah, I don't really know. I couldn't do 60 miles on my Ninja 250 without feeling terrible, but I've done almost 600 on the CBR without feeling that terrible.

I was making the point that the Ninja isn't comfy at all, but I guess not many bikes are on that distance :P

Completely just ignore what i said lol...

Haha I'm not entirely sure whats going on but I'll just take your advice, I don't think either myself or my Ninja will struggle with doing those sort of miles, I definately think bordum on the motorway would be the killer for me but hopefully that shouldn't be an issue.

I would do this but it's a 3 and a half hour trip for me and by that time i don't know if i will have my license / bike ready ... Can you put me on a maybe list?

Don't worry about 3 and half hours, some people are doing6hrs just to get to the meet. I'm doing 4ish.

I'm doing a 3 hour+ trip :) I see from another post you are in Kent so could go slightly out of both our ways to diverge and meet part way.

Would definatly be better... But like i said not defo i'm going .. but i am definatly trying so will give you a pm nearer the time (or you pm me) lol

You dont need to be in comms with each other.

Where only doing about 60miles to the travel lodge and on the ride in wales i know id rather be conventrating on all those new speed cameras than talking.

In my view we'd all stay reasonably close together anyway so if we got anything to say just talk at a junction or at a set of lights haha I'd rather concentrate and sing and dance to my music tbh haha

Might want to select a front marker, back marker.

Then do a drop off system, front marker points when he wants the bike behind him to stop.

Bike waits until back marker flashes him out. Rejoins the pack.

That way every junction and direction change can be marked, noone gets lost and everyone can ride at their own pace aside from the back marker who must stay at the back at all times.

You can overtake the front marker, but you'd be on your own.

Just make sure the front marker knows the way :) helps if the front marker is wearing something distinctive or has like a helmet mohawk as it's easier to know to watch out for his finger pointing then.

Ordinarily this is overkill (normally on little rideouts just keeping folk sighted in your mirrors at all times would suffice) but it looks like you're going to have a rather nice turn out, so it's worth putting the effort in.

also your on about Scala riders ... The only one i could possibly afford is the q2 .. but i want a camera to vlog with too plus my test and insurance... so my trip could be a silent one :/ ...

EDIT: unless in the future someone would like to go halfs on a g4 multi set with me and keep one g4 maybe http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cardo-Scala-R ... 256947a67c

Look at the parrot sk4000 mate, it doesn't do bluetooth intercom but noone ever bothers with that in reality unless you're always riding with the same person.

Does stereo audio, bluetooth headset, line in, fm radio and also works with my phone as gps. They're cheaper on amazon than on ebay, at least they were a few months back when I bought mine.

Oh and for "intercom" you can then just use free minutes on your mobile and just dial each other.

Comes with a very cool little handle bar remote too so you can do everything without removing your hands from the bars.

No free minutes :/

We'll just stick as a group, it works fine without getting complicated. As longs as everyone is sensible, ie. No rash overtakes followed by gunning it. Slowest leads. Remember we have 125's going along too.

This is a bad idea. A more experianced rider should lead or ride 2up at the front.
The slowest at the front is usually the less experianced one, For saftey reasons it would be best for someone with a good few years under their belt to lead. A 'Less expericanced' rider may follow your line and it be easy for you but they end up in a field.

125's should ride where they feel comfortable. If you feel your not too confident on riding close to someone I'll drop back and we'll ride slower or whatever ever pace you feel like.

Satnavs - 1 at front/ lead group & 1 at rear just incase.
We let everyone know where we are heading before-hand, incase people do get lost and can use there road knowlage to get them there.

Even though im on a 125 , im still confident enough to go near-ish to the front or the rear whichever is needed, as i should be getting a new satnav from Santy Claus.

This sounds like its turning into a military operation... the best method i can say to anyone for keeping in the group, is if you are going straight along at a roundabout then just keep going, if you are turning have at least 1 person stay behind, im sure me and Friz will be happy to do this as we have coms and can let each other know if anything happens. And if all else fails just ring someone, i have allready put my number on here so if you needed anyone could ring me if they got lost, i can answer while driving and tell you where we have got to, overtake to get to the front of the pack and get people to stop.

Overplanning is the ruin of most trips.

And if I get lost and I cannot be found call 07854 871131 , no late night drunk calls , tell me who you are first via text :) cheers

How did we even get onto the riding formation chat ? , whoever wants to go first goes first , never leave a man behind, don't take the piss and if you speed ahead, you are on your own :) simple rules for group riding ?
