That map idea is fantastic. Everyone should add themselves, or get someone else to do it.

I'm trying to add me right now but can't work it out.

Cheers Friz :)

If you click the link it should come up with the map page on google, under the google logo on the left at the top there is a Red box (a little to the right) Which says Edit on it. Click that and then three boxes will apear at the top left corner of the map itself, the one in the middle is the marker so just click it and place it where you live :)

Just short of 300 miles - 5 hours if I use the motorway and 7 hours if I don't. You lot better be worth it :D

Edit - Ooooooo its only 6 hours 45 minutes If I take a detour to Durham (Thinking of you Pope5hat ;) )

Had a chat with pope5hat last night, he said he will be meeting me in leeds on his way down! so there will be 3 of us heading from the north!

It would be easier if scottishrider2011 meets me in durham and then we ride down to leeds to "pick" carlsant1 up, that way no one is riding alone. which could be less dangerous incase anything happens to anyone.

ah yeah, thats what i meant lol not for us all to converge in Leeds lol. And im sure nothing will happen, unless someone breaks down but im sure we should be able to fix it!

Motorway or A roads, the route is practically the same anyway and Leeds is on the way so I dont see why it would be an issue. Googlemaps reckons its about 7 hours travelling from mine to Chesterfield using A roads with detours to Durham and Leeds so I can see me having to leave at about 6 in the morning if the plan is to meet at CMC at about 1-2pm. Easter weekend traffic aswell, thank God for motorcycles.

I think I will leave mine at 10:30 to get there for 12 to have some fish and chips for lunch. :) win

As an estimate google reckons its about 3 hours so on the basis I leave at about 6 that would mean getting to Durham at 9, I think once winter is over I might do a few test runs to get a better idea but it will do for now.

It's a long time on any bike. Going from Scotland - Wales in the space of 2 days will be a fair few miles, good job the Ninja is decent on MPG.

I have relatives in Cambridge so i'm thinking i could make the journey up there the day before and stay the night with them, then join up with the guys from the Ipswitch/Norwich area

Yar I'm thinking the whole weekend is going to add at least 500-600 miles onto the bike, and this is something I had considered however I just thought about the first day after I got my bike, I was out on it for like the whole day and didnt have any issues. I think the problem would arise if I spent a full 7 hours on the motorway. Hopefully A roads and periodic breaks should be enough to keep me going. I'm also currently toying with the idea of travelling down on the Thursday so I have the full day to get down there but I'm not sure about that idea yet.

I do believe Friz was meaning that it sempt a long time for a Ninja 250, and by far is that a long way on any bike, if your bike is made for it you can easily cover that distance, ive done the 600 miles in one day on the VFR800 and would still have gone further if i had anywhere else to go.

Get the right bike and the right gear and any distance is do-able (within reason of course)

But anyway i digress, i think you misunderstood Friz there

Really? I seem to remember us at that service station in Leicester pretty much crying because of the distance left

Yeah, I don't really know. I couldn't do 60 miles on my Ninja 250 without feeling terrible, but I've done almost 600 on the CBR without feeling that terrible.

I was making the point that the Ninja isn't comfy at all, but I guess not many bikes are on that distance :P

Persoanl preferances really, I rode to Killin on my Rs125 came home the week later was great bike worked flawlessly. It's all about if you look after your bike, if you do then it will put the miles under it;s belt easily, if you don't expect to be on the hardshoulder.
