intros and outros?

intro outro ... if you make it short and sweet then yeah! ... not saying it has to be short .. but theres a lot of ext....... end.......e.........d intros that just get tiresome after awhile... even if they are brilliant in concept! .. 'you know the vlogger you are watching because its been awhile ... and you just want to get to the good stuff!' lol...

.. imo though... probably better to make sure you get the best edit of your vlog done... to pique viewers interest and get it out there...

theres always time for intro's etc ... but then again theres always time to change it later too!!

2cents :)

Ha, just yesterday I slapped together a basic intro just to get a feel for it. I was satisfied with the overall concept but: the video I used was a little bland, I want to come up with a proper logo instead of using plain text, and want to find I good 10 second bit of music. As chill as the clip was over all if imagine it would be a better outro.

Well that was far off from advise from someone other than a noob, but thats what I've gained from my one attempt.

Short(er), sweet, appealing and not something that will pound your head for 10 seconds... that's my advice ;) .

I agree with RoninK6. Though it would be funny if someone made a 90's sitcom style intro that was a minute long with a cheesy theme song. I put a little 5 second intro in my videos its more of a cutaway with a title screen and the topic name a few seconds into the vlog.

Back in the day most intros were 60 seconds long (that's why we have so many classic tv themes). It was just until more recently that they cut them down to 30 seconds... for what, more commercial time :p ? *yawn* ~_~ (commercials)

Never really felt the need for an intro but I like doing the outro. Kinda like leaving with a bang!

thanks for the response guys! right now i have a 6-7 second intro. i just like messing with stuff, so why not? but for the outro i'm not really sure what to have in there. I'm still trying out names and stuff too, so there's a lot in the air. I'm 100% over thinking everything.

Anything more than 10 seconds is a waste to be honest.

If you want views then you have to cut the fluff and fit in with people's lives aka their lunch breaks

well, i feel like i've got a decent set now. I've enjoyed messing around with limited media and making a tiny production. I'll get a few more set up and start posting soon hopefully.

I use a short 6 second intro then when I do my outro I usually say "As always Constructive criticism is always welcome. Hope you Liked the video. Peace Guys.

Easy enough and not So long that people get annoyed with it.

My new intro/outro is 10s but starts cross fading about 9s. Old intro was a 5s text title in black fading to the vid. Quite like my intro. Outros dont matter so much IMO, you're not going to make the person switch off from the main vid.

Just before the intro, I put a small clip (lesser than 10seconds) of me riding with a small comment on what is happening. After that, I launch my intro (5 seconds long), I don't want to lose the viewer interest at the beginning!
As an outro I use a classic "watch previous video, subscribe, twitter, facebook ..." panel, 5 seconds long with annotations.

It's a classic scheme, but it seems to work (I guess...) :)

As everyone has already said, you should keep it as simple as possible. Have the person with a short attention span and limited time in mind.

Both my outro and intro together are about 6-7 seconds long. My intro is my logo falling into shot and the letters falling off, which lasts about 3 seconds, and my outro is the letters of "Thanks for watching!" hopping onto the screen and leaving--4-ish seconds. Both with simple sound effects.

I have no music (some viewers are turned off by music that isn't to their tastes and may not watch solely because of it), no "Like", "Follow," or "Subscribe" as I figure if they were to really want to do either, they'd do so by way of links already available in the description or the Home page without prompting. I try to keep it clean and noncommittal.

I just use a quick flash of my channel name and an audio clip from the video. Maybe when my channel gets a higher subscribership I'll dedicate some time to a real intro

Id say a little "branding" or theme and a thank you caption at the end would be good regardless of your subs base.

I like making cartoons/stop frame animations so I made a little cartoon with this free programme I got a couple of years ago called 'pencil'
It's just a few seconds and starts of quiet getting a little louder, it's so people can get the volume right before the main video starts really.

had an intro, dropped the intro..
It just didnt feel right

Might do an outro , But not sure, its alot of work
