Getting your intro professionally made?

I'm sure most of you work on making your own intro, if you do at all, but some of the intro's I see for vlogger's have to be professionally made. They are way beyond anything I could create, and wonder if anyone knows professional people out there that will make intro videos we can use for our vlogs. Like this guy, who mainly just sits and talks to the camera, giving tips, but has an incredibly good (IMO) intro for his vids. Any tips or links to places I could contact to get something really good made up?

I'd be put off by any intro that long, was about 30seconds... if it was like that every vid, I'd either be skipping it or unsubbing.
You could try "Fiverr" a lot of folk use that service to get people to make logos and intros etc.
I'd def look at keeping it below 15seconds, and preferably around the 10 second mark.

Along HippoDrones' comment - a marketing friend of mine commented on one of my videos and said that 6s was the perfect length. Any longer and he would've clicked off the video. Moto Mengy comes to mind - he has a short & sweet intro that says what his channel is all about, and only lasts a few seconds.

As for professional creation of an intro, I do my own intros, and if you just plug away at a little bit at a time, you can do it yourself at home. Along the way, you might learn a thing or two about your editing software [like I did], so bonus!

Intros and outros should only consist of 1 percent of your viewing time. 5 minutes equals 3 seconds. And honestly, 3 seconds i more than enough. I will fast forward channels I enjoy watching if their intro is longer, but I will turn off ones that I haven't gotten into if their intro lasts longer than 4 seconds. This is why so many streaming services have the skip intro feature because people don't care or want to see it over and over and over again.

My favorite channel on youtube right now is Steve Wallis, a camping and outdoors channel. He just politely says hello at the beginning of every video and it is just so nice and streamlined!

I personally keep it short and I use that first few seconds to engage and intro my bike and myself along with who I might be riding with. I have actually been considering scraping my logo/music combo because it annoys me to have to watch it over and over and over again.

And I hate fiverr since it degrades and demonitizes what I do for a living (graphic designer). I suggest trying etsy for video editors/effects artists, local message boards/facebook groups for film makers, a local university film department or even the high school communications department.

I have watched MC Rider and the impression is, it's not a one man show. But yes, if animations are what you are looking for, then fiverr could be a spot to browse, as Hippo suggested, but you get what you pay for, they are not professionals there either.

I always put my intro after several [usually 15-30] seconds of content... get the hook in, intro, say who I am, go back to content.

I should probably ditch the intro sequence.

I have been inserting a few seconds of content in my videos over the past year upfront, but that is not considered intro material. It is a useful way to sink that hook - usually a mistake, funny moment or flubbed line.

I try and keep in mind that people want new content, not a repeated, premaid intro over and over. Introducing yourself, channel or bike does serve a purpose though and that is for new viewers and can be done on the bike with a new visual or setting everytime. Takes 3 seconds and no need for complex editing or paying anyone else to make an intro.

I've been tinkering with creating a logo for my channel and slapping that up in a 2 or 3 second blank spot [no talking] early in the video, complete with sound effect, and then fading it out. Gives a visual cue that you're watching one of my videos but not a full-on intro that removes the viewer from the content and then deposits them back in.

Also, I usually forget to leave a 3-5 second blank space to be cut out later and replaced with my intro.

If I can get out and record this week, I may play with that a bit ... record a few intro bits like this, just to see how they look in the editor.

I agree it is too long. Even the little one I made up was only 8 seconds and analytics tell me I lose 40% by the end of it. Still, I like the style and quality of the intro.

I use a template for every video that has the space up front, my logo & song, and my settings for output with all of my elements in the folder. I just create a copy and rename it for that particular vlog then go from there.

And having a logo is something I highly recommend. Espcially one that breaks down to 3 or 4 colors for marketing material such as stickers or shirts. And can be shrunk or enlarged easily for different uses online, spam cards, or banners.

I agree with the 6 second rule. I do like the quality of his intro though, seems very professional.

I picked up that technic from Itchyboots as well. About 5 seconds of teaser, then a quick intro, then into the video.

Yeah I just don't have software or know-how to do custom graphics.

Yep - exactly. I get sticker swap requests and stuff... but I have none. I think I'll make that a priority for the next 2 weeks - kind of like setting a deadline for myself.

As for templates, I use Resolve, so I have the Power Bins turned on with all my YT assets [music/sfx/overlay templates], and I have new projects set to 4x video and audio tracks. I just go in, name each one, do a rough cut, add Alex Audio Butler, play through and add transitions/overlays/effects, slap in my intro and end card, do another play through, and render.

It may sound complex, but in reality it's pretty efficient AFAIK. I've dropped my editing time by half, making room for more and better effects and stuff. When I really get down in the weeds of a longer video, it can still take 10-15 hours to edit one though, and that's off topic for THIS conversation, so I'll stop there.

Hi John, this is a little off topic but I haven't figured out where to send you a PM yet. So I'm going to post here, maybe others could chime in. I went to have a quick look at your channel (gave you a sub too!) and learned about the new trailer feature you did there with the trailer auto playing to anyone new visiting the page. Awesome tip, so I set up my own. All I have for now is my "intro" video so I put that up for now until I can make something better. It's supposed to play automatically to anyone new visiting the page, just like yours did when I visited. So I got my wife to log in after setting it up. She got the notification that I uploaded a new video, but didn't get the trailer. I tried on my daughter's account and same thing. I have it all set up and it says it's supposed to play it and feature it on the home page, but it wont. What am I doing wrong? Can you do me a favor and give it a quick test, go to my page and see if it plays the trailer when you first open the page? (Not sure if I've earned the right to post my channel page here yet but here goes) it's www.youtube.com/motorcycledestinationswithrichie

Yeah I kept my intro to about 6 seconds because I myself don't care much for long intros. I really didn't give it any more thought than that though so I have no idea if its a good idea or not!!! :D

Normally we don't like links in this part of the forum, but it is a valid question. I get taken to your channel page and it shows your trailer... the reason your wife etc didn't see it is probably because they are already subscribed. It is only supposed to show to folk who are not subbed

I went to your channel and your trailer started playing, so I subbed :D

For returning visitors, that's in the section below "new visitors" on your customize channel page in YT, IIRC. I have my channel set up to show my trailer to new folks and one of my recent videos to returning subs.

So, I just reiterated what HippoDrones said... it's the truth :D
