I'll keep this simple but I want to build a list of vlogging tips for the noobs!

As you may have guessed, I see more vlogs than most people because of this site and this is my biggest tip and most people still do it!

Don't name your channel after the brand of your bike!!!

Most people chop and change, we crash, stolen, sell and most don't every get the same bike again. Here, I will change your username but on places like Youtube, you can't change custom URLS etc

You could then lose followers and all sorts as your channel name turns into something completely unrelated

Post your tip below

:(

I am used to being the special case that tips things over the line.

I might think about changing it if I can come up with something else before I create a custom URL on YouTube....... likely to be a significant time frame.

**insert random name generator link**

Di you have a custom URL on your Youtube channel? You can change names but not the custom URL so if you do change, do it sooner than later

My advice for a vlogging newbie would be;

1) Make the time you spend recording the vlog fun and enjoyable. No point trying to makes vlogs if you are really strapped for free time.

2) If, like myself, you are blessed with lovely weather only on the days that you are commuting to work then vary your route. If not you could loose subscriber interest if the scenery is the same but only the topic is different.

3) Be yourself and don't try to copy the big YouTube vloggers. Your vlogs should be consistent with your personality.

4) I would suggest try to limit your foul language. I often stop watching vlogs where the 'F' word to used in every other sentence.

5) It is worth investing in the proper cameras and microphones for vlogging as the picture and sound quality help to keep the audience.

6) Be wary of your riding standard. Crossing white lines, running lights, cutting up other road users and speeding are all evident on the vlogs you make.

There are probably some more but my minds blank now so I'll post again when the battery charges!

I need to quantify, this is coming more from a watcher than a creator. I have some vlogs, but most of my stuff is just riding some nice (to me) roads. These are just some of the things I try and adhere to, and stuff I look for from others. #3 is an important one for me.

1. Have an idea of what you are going to vlog about. Aimlessly meandering around talking about nothing has no staying power.
2. Stick to the subject, and if you run out of stuff to say, pick it up later on - editing is a powerful tool.
3. Keep it short. Most wont watch a 30 minute video of someone talking. 4 to 7 minutes is a good time to shoot for. If you have more than that, make more than one video, and do a Part 1, 2, 3...
4. As others have said - check your riding style and at least keep it legal for the vlog.
5. Keep the rants to a minimum. We get it, you're pissed at the world. We all get there now and then. Riding angry, and ramping yourself up in a vlog is dangerous at best.
6. Back to #1. If you are out to see historic stuff, give some history or other information about it.

One thing I will do is repeat some things that I say 2 or 3 times. If you stumble on your words don't sweat it, just say it again until you get it right! Also talk louder than normal, there are many vloggers who I can't understand because they are talking too soft for me to hear them clearly.

One thing I do is if I'm vlogging and make a mistake or forget what I was about to say then I shout out loud then start again. The reason for the shout is that it shows up as a big block on the sound layer when I do the editing.
Great idea! That will save me a lot of time when I edit

Not only that, but you enjoy the trip too. Nothing wrong with getting lost on the way home,

Im guilty of this, But have started to make a mental note of it. ChipHardbody did a video the other day saying cursing is fine. Opened my eyes up a little, It isnt...

Sound is the most, Lots of people just listen to vlogs,
6) Be wary of your riding standard. Crossing white lines, running lights, cutting up other road users and speeding are all evident on the vlogs you make.
Hooning for views is how you get laid up in the hospital

Give it a minute or two between "takes" scenery changes, doesnt look like you are just abusing cuts. Also helps you compose yourself and think about what you are going to say

My tips:
- Don't try to vlog so excessively that you don't keep attention to your surroundings anymore.
- Don't use numbered "vlogs", they are more difficult to find on the youtube search page (that's why I stopped doing that)
- If you don't like to talk, don't :) I'm still planning on getting a mic, but I don't know what to talk about, so it's just some random stuff I see on the road.
- Don't schedule your videos, you get under a lot of pressure to get out some vlog and the quality is way less than the viewers shall expect.
- Invest in a camera with good quality, like some sony or gopro that includes an external mic input (I didn't) AND a sound recorder, the sound is way better with external recorders :)
- Have fun motovlogging!

Makes sense, start your title with the most important keyword while you are at it.

- Don't schedule your videos, you get under a lot of pressure to get out some vlog and the quality is way less than the viewers shall expect.

OR, schedule a tempo that fits you, everyone likes a predictable schedule, even if its once a month.

- Have fun motovlogging!

This should fill the entire banner of this site.
