Tank Bag for DSLR (with 600mm lens) + Drone?

I've been looking for a tank bag that'll allow me to stow away a Nikon Z8 + 180-600mm lens attached - the length of which comes to about 17 inches (43cm). There should technically be enough space on either side of the lens to also put a mini drone by my reckoning. Was wondering if any of you have attempted carrying a camera with 600mm lens attached, and what have you used to carry it. I'm not too keen on a backpack because of back issues and extremely bad roads here.

My current Rynox tank bag (popular brand here in India) has an internal length of 30cm and that has served me well for keeping a Sony RX10iv and Insta360 X4 within a camera bag.

I use my tank bag to carry a Nikon D7000, a 18-105 Nikon lens, and some accessories. Unfortunately, my tank bag is so old that is discontinued. Maybe you can benefit from reading this tank bag discussion.

Thanks, the biggest challenge is finding one with 16 inches of space either length or diagnolly since a 600mm lens is really large. Almost every single one I've checked here in India is about 12-14 inches max.

I'm going to reach out to some local bag repair shops and see if I can convert a camera backpack by addiing the magnetic base flap tank bags have. That'll allow me to mount it onto the tank while giving me all the space I need.

Instead a tank bag, maybe you can re-purpose a howitzer instead and tow it?
Hah, this is India. A howitzer wouldn't make it a mile before vanishing into a pothole. That said, carrying a camera with a 600mm lens isn't as absurd as you make it out to be, especially if one has an interest in birding / wildlife photography. I basically plan to ride out to nature reserves / national parks and do a bit of photography over a few days before riding back.

I agree. I used to carry Tamrons 150-600 on my bike, but I used a backpack. Would not dare to put it on the bike itself. Later gave up all the glass. It was just too much to bring on to holiday trips anyway, so opted for a 1500mm superzoom camera, which has served me well. Sure, it won't make pictures good enough to blow up on the wall, but good enough for a standard 10x15 print. I bet modern superzooms are even better.

I use a media (photography bag) to carry all of my cameras and accessories. It can be customized for what you need, and can hold a laptop, and a tripod as well. Here’s an example of one.
