Woohoo, New Gopro Mounts! :D

Yup, I am not impressed.... They make the last model cameras hard to get hold of so we have to buy the latest tech... which is it was an improvement would not be an issue. Am hoping there will be a patch anytime soon as this is utter crap.... The Yi 4k+ is getting more and more appealing!

Yi cameras still have a little way to go in the colour department. However now with all that google money they must be getting though the partnership they have started it wont be long before they catch up.

Just seen from Jake The Garden Snake another issue with the GoPro Hero 5 Black that the quickstart doesn't activate the external mic since the new update.... Those wanting a GoPro 5 should probably look to other manufacturers... especially when you can now get 4K at 60fps on the Yi 4K+ for less than the GoPro 5 costs!

Oh great. I wonder if this issue applies to the Hero 5 session? I'm looking at keeping the session as my main camera but as it's one-touch operation, if it's got the no audio issue its worthless to me.

It does but I have fixed both my hero 5 black and hero 5 session by rolling back the firmware manually and turning off auto updates so now both seem to work fine with the one touch record. Am probs gonna sort a video showing how to do it if it is of interest?

I am looking to sort out a trackday setup for my cameras incase I am unable to run a headcam on my next one. Looking to still have voice audio via an external recorder but also run the external mic adapter off a bike mounted GoPro and fit the mic under the seat to try get some wind free engine and ambient noise too. I don't think it'll be too tough to do. I do however really hope I can still run the headcam.

I have been having some real annoying issues with the GoPro Hero 5 mic adaptor, it is garbage but with no other options available (without using a separate audio recorder) I have been trying to sort them out.

Basically the adaptor does not work in the rain, audio cuts out and clicks and clips. I also fear regular removal of the USB-C to remove the camera from it's case will cause the connector to fail.

So what have I done?

I have purchased a USB-C cable extension and mounted the mic adaptor on the back of my lid and put a bung around the connector on the camera to hold out the water hopefully and hold it steadier so it won't wobble about so much. This I'm hoping will fix all the issues.

Has the extension and "bung" set-up worked for you? I'm almost about to give up with the gopro all because of this damn mic adaptor!

I no longer use a bung, got a rubber case for the camera which keeps out the water from the connectors (I cut a slit in it to insert the mic adaptor)

How do you ride like this with such a setup.. How do you ride fast without any worry about something coming off? I could never ride with such a setup.. I would be so distracted that my stuff will just fly off when I'm speeding.

All I'm seeing are "Photo not found". :/
Same. Cant see any of the photos, very interested to see 3d printed mounts.
Soz, they were posted before Photobucket held us to ransom with all our pics demanding money to continue hosting them, I'll find a decent pic of the 3D printed GoPro mount and bung it below...

It is all pretty secure. TBH I'd not run with the peak if I was going to be riding fast as it generates a bit of wind noise, but if touring it is plenty secure and nothing moves around.

This is the 3D printed mount, was a really neat setup and I miss it with my new crash helmet, was really tidy, simple and functional.

This is how I run the setup normally now, with no peak or powerbank.
