Just received an order I made from Shapeways and it has really streamlined my helmetcam setup! :)

(pics removed as photobucket started charging - photos now shown later in the thread)

It is the top piece of the 2 I am using on my helmet.

It allows a much closer to the helmet positioning and also puts the lens (almost) directly inline with the middle of the helmet.

Am really pleased with where it sits now, still need to test it on the bike to get it pointing at the correct angle (which I can't do currently as my bike is still in the shop).

The second mount allows me to use GoPro mounts on my Mobius2 Actioncam so I'll be able to run a second camera if my bike doesn't vibe too much for it (will be getting a GoPro Hero 5 Session in the future as I think the image stabilisation would work well on a bar mounted facecam).

Yes mate, I love the 3D printing technology. I've actually had a bolt 3D printed for a gas blow back airsoft rifle which was super light, made for a very snappy trigger and some other rifle internals. All my actioncam camera mounts are 3D printed too! :)

I hope you have better luck with 3d printed mounts than I did, maybe the tech has improved over a few years ago

Tested it out on the Ducati today, not sure how it came out as still getting the vids off the camera.

I utterly despise the GoPro mic adaptor, it is badly designed and has poor QC, it disgusts me tbh that they care so little about those of us that need an external mic!

I have modded my set up now, not the camera, but have change my mic and spent out on a professional microphone in the hope it helps reduce the clicks I was getting of my $3 mic:

(pics removed as photobucket started charging)

The mic is the size of 2 match heads if not smaller but is a pro one, the dead cat it stuck to the mic and chin piece. Not tested it yet, may post an example clip while testing it tomorrow. Am loving how tiny the setup is with the cable hidden in my lid lining! :)

I don't really seem to use the mobius to gopro mount, just the offset gopro mount. The mobius mount was just shy of £10

Yeah, if you do go the way of 3.5mm to mini-USB adapter route, make sure to go directly with a GoPro adapter (More expensive) or at the very least, one that is stereo. Most of the non-GoPro brand adapters either don't record in stereo, or their sound quality/volume is terrible.

I have been having some real annoying issues with the GoPro Hero 5 mic adaptor, it is garbage but with no other options available (without using a separate audio recorder) I have been trying to sort them out.

Basically the adaptor does not work in the rain, audio cuts out and clicks and clips. I also fear regular removal of the USB-C to remove the camera from it's case will cause the connector to fail.

So what have I done?

I have purchased a USB-C cable extension and mounted the mic adaptor on the back of my lid and put a bung around the connector on the camera to hold out the water hopefully and hold it steadier so it won't wobble about so much. This I'm hoping will fix all the issues.

I actually got my hero 3 out to see if I can use it for a small job, and decided to give the USB mic adapter a go.

WHY HAVE YOU PEOPLE PUT UP WITH THIS FOR SO LONG!!!!

The thing is just junk. I'm even more mad at drift that they have got rid of the 3.5 input from their products now.
