Currently I use the super cheap Neewer Mic and hate it. Since it is inconsistent. I found 2 on amazon that are about the same price just not sure which to get. Anyone use these and how do they sound (also tell where its mounted in helmet please).

I use the Drift Mic, but I also find that almost all the mics are equally as good.

Placement and wind protection seems to make a far greater difference than the mic itself.

That's what I've thought too but I have tried numerous ways to dampen the mic I have and tried about every location I can think of. I'll ride one time and it'll sound great then next trip it sounds like nothing but wind and static. Idk. It's frustrating when you come across something good on the road and later find the audio is crap.

Hmmm, I've heard before that Modular helmets are harder than heck to find the right place for a mic in :o . Do you have a skirt you can put on the bottom by chance :o ???

@renegadebiker24 had an issue like that... no matter where he put his mic, he got wind noise until he put the skirt on the bottom that he left off :p . Worked for him, I guess :p heh~ ;)

I guess I'll be purchasing a drift mic. I really like the sound quality of the ATR3350 used by vlogger Accidental Broadcast but I think worrying about batteries is just an extra task that isnt worth my time. Atleast not unless I became a bigger vlogger.

I thought he used the 3350 a long time ago. For most of his stuff over the past 2 years he has a modified Zoom H2N bolted to his helmet with some of the mics rewired to be in his helmet.

You get no benefit of using a powered mic like that with a device like the H2N, in fact it is likely to be detrimental as both devices mess with the levels of the audio independently.

For devices with poor audio capture like the GoPro or Drift cameras then the 3350 is much more useful.

I direct record straight to the drfit and gopro so a powered mic would be good but too much work.

I watched his older video and that was his setup at the time.

Also I just ordered the drift mic so lets hope that makes things better.

[/QUOTi use one i got off amazon for $3 and it works just fine, the trick is on how you position it

Maybe that's the issue I ordered a drift mic now so hopefully that will solve things. The cheap mic its to large to fit in the hole in the cheek pad.

Also have a SENA on the way so maybe some dual vlogs coming soon.

Hmmmm, thanks for letting me know. I wonder if I need to leave the skirt off. I will try that and see if it works. I just got a windsock from heartland honda recently, and I have drilled out a hole on one of the waterproof case because of the wind factor. I will post a video of my current setup soon.

I used ot use the 3227 a long time ago with a POV.HD while a great mic the problem was forgetting to turn it on, battery going dead and not knowing so it was a right pain in the butt.

Now I just use drifts own mic with a replacement wind shield (thick foam one) tucked into my cheek pad. Seems to work fine.

I thought that's how you fixed it :o .....
