When i take a video off my drift and put it in to sony vegas 8.0 all i get is the audio :(
I converted it from quick time movie to AVI because i got no video or audio in that file type and on AVI i only get audio :( can anyone help

Are you open in the trimmer? Have you rendered a small bit of footage to see wether or not its the preview messing up??

tried to play it and all i got was the audio with the AVI file not even got any video in the video slot :/ is there anything i can download to fix the problem or any other file type i can convert to?

Is the video black? Is the video there in your original video file when not in Sony Vegas?

If so, you probably need to install an older version of Quicktime or a newer version of Vegas. Uninstall your quicktime, find QuickTime version 7.6.4 or earlier, and install that. Reopen Vegas, and see if your video is still black. You may also want to download video codecs... the K-lite Codec pack should have all you need.

Thats what i was thinking, Thats what I had to do....

You need to do what toast said. Uninstall quicktime and reinstall an older version, vegas isnt't the best for quicktime :) Piece of cake though. Might take a restart or two. Plus you will probs need to start the editing again.

LOL, should do, when I did this it took a few trys as Vegas didn't recognise the fact that I had changed the quicktime. But a word of warning, if you have itunes and it asks you too update untick the quicktime update box as you will have to do it all again :P

I'm actually going to kill someone in a minute -.- downloaded the older version of quicktime and i have download that codec pack and restarted opened up the video in quicktime works perfectly. Dragged the quicktime video file in to vegas, woo hoo! i have picture, but wait.... no audio -.- and my video is now really laggy. Just out of interest i put the video in Windows movie maker, and it works fuc*king perfectly!!! -.- but i dont want to edit in WMM why is this so complicated? All i want to do is show people my first vlog and i cant D;

Thats what I get, you have to render it to get it up to the original quality HOWEVER im yet to find a piece of software that offers the same features as vegas but works well with quicktime. What I normally do is go forward frame by frame on the specific bits. also find the video preview tool under the tools menu at the top and use that as its better than the trimmer.

Sometimes, it's not the codecs or the file type, it's the dud version of Vegas you've acquired. Find a different one, not that I'm talking from experience or anything... :P

I had the same problem, it was the codecs. Nothing particularly to do with quiktime but the k-lite codec was the way to go.

You know there's been something like 4 new generations of Sony Vegas since 8... You may consider upgrading just for the sake of getting the same basic application that will actually run a little bit better AND not require you to convert things. For what it's worth: I used Pro 8 for years and never had to convert anything before editing... I don't think you actually fixed whatever the problem was.
