What is your next channel goal?

Anything you film or say can and will be used against you. :p
Filming all the time would require huge amounts of memory and external power source. My camera, for example, takes only ~3h worth of memory card, and the batteries I have won't support the camera even that long. For a moment I figured, maybe you're talking about running the camera in loop mode, that gopros have. But you wouldn't have anyone to press the button, after the crash.
A GoPro can record 8 hours at 2.7k on 256GB card. If I live the whole 8 hours, just delete the footage and ready to record some more.

Looping can be set at 1080 for 20 minute loops.

As far as external power sources, that is not a big deal really. It does not take much time to plug one up.

The ultimate unblinking witness is a 360 mounted where it can see behind me too. It can be plugged in to a USB port for power.

I had to drastically cut down how many videos I record, in order to get this close! How about you?
I must admit, I made less progress then I had hoped.
Partially because I recorded the same amount as I have edited.
Partly because the pc is having trouble editing gopro and insta at the same time, slowing everything down.

So I might need to wait until the new pc is here to do the catching up ;)

I 100% get that. I'm finally 11 videos away from caught up. It's been a BUSY time trying to edit 3-5 videos per week, and only releasing 3/week.

That said, I came up with a new, highly-achievable goal: Publish 500 videos on my channel. I'm at 484 right now, with 9 uploaded, and the aforementioned 11 in editing... so, October-ish? :D

It also doesn't help that recording them is much more fun then editing them.
Especially if the views on youtube are random (at best).
And the slow pc, spend yesterday 3 hours just getting ready to start the edit.

Yeah, recording IS more fun! I do like my editing, though.

3 hours to SET UP to edit? OUCH!

That new computer can't get there fast enough.

I enjoy the editing, but never sit on un-edited footage, it either gets binned as soon as I get home if I didn't feel I got anything worth editing, or edited that evening, only time that doesn't happen is on multi-day trips where I can't edit until I get home, but even then, I generally start to edit that footage as soon as I spark a beer the evening of me getting back.

I blame my adult responsibilities... family and work. I'll sometimes record 4-7 videos in a week, and I just don't have the time to edit them... and then the next week I fall further behind. That's been what's going on for the last 18 months or so.

Hopefully by October I'll be caught up.

Have you thought about just writing your ideas down, riding more without vlogging and then just picking 3 rides a week where you record, that way your videos will always be current, and you can still cover the subject, but with current opinions... I'm sure you must have found out new things about the stuff you talk about given the time from recording to sharing... could keep them more fresh... and show the same season etc... although you are super blessed to have fantastic weather year round it seems from your videos.

I think I remember you talking about burn out a while back... if you just made the content you needed week to week (ok, maybe a month in advance with a 3 a week schedule), then you'd not feel that pressure on yourself?

Am just throwing thoughts in the air, absolutely nothing wrong with how you do stuff if it works for you, but you could make it easier on yourselves ( @Meifesto included ) by recording less? :-)

That's kind of what I'm doing now - just jotting down ideas for when I'm caught up. I'm also riding just as much but recording FAR less, so when I AM caught up, I can record the topics in my list.

It's a dual-edge sword though - when I get close to catching up, I get in a panic as to "what's next???"

True... but that's not how my brain works. 'Cause then it worries about "when's the next time we get to ride?" and "where we gonna ride to?"

Oh well, I could use a break anyway. I think I'm approaching 2,500 hours of editing over the last 3 years. Maybe more.

We all are different John, if it adds stress to not record so much, then how you have been doing it may be best. I know the "range anxiety" feeling of not having a months worth of videos ready to go... and I only put out one video a week!

Yep, couldn't agree more. There's more than one way to skin this cat, as it were.

Things are gonna change soon for my channel though, I think. I'll put out a video talking about that, maybe.

I've got some plans in the works.

You creators with all the backlogs - I find it kind of neat to get caught up on one series (Turd Wolf) to wander into backlog footage and find something I may have forgotten how I wanted to put it together while recording.

It gives me a fresh look and chance to maybe edit the footage different than I had planned when filming.

Another tip I use sometimes when recording for future is to record my edit notes right after filming a scene. Heck, I found where @LoneWolfer @scooterwuf and I recorded lots of notes ideas and edits while riding. Hint - we may have even more coming out including a scripted one.

That's the same thing I experience! I will learn a new skill in Resolve, or have a different idea like you said, and apply it. It happened BIG TIME to my ride with my neighbor last year - the footage sat barely edited for MONTHS until I found Clarity, and life got easier [it was VERY hard on my ears, so I edited for 5-10 mins at a shot].

The recording of editing notes is a great tip - and one I use myself. I also know me well enough [I'd hope so!] that I know months later what I was thinking while recording. For instance, when I record a straightaway with no talking for about 20 seconds, I know I'm supposed to do a dolly zoom on it. Same thing with the side shots I record. Clips shorter than 10 seconds, it's meant to show ONE thing for 1-2 seconds and then move on.

Doing stuff like that surely makes editing faster and easier!

I read through all this and wonder just how you each manage to do your thing. I mean I know my style is different and the videos are different and maybe my mojo is a little low right now because of the video series I'm doing and have put off for a long time (with good reason), but I really don't know how some of you get so much done each week.

It is awesome seeing how some people are able to put out so much content... I wish I was able to still do the 2 videos a week that I used to do, that seemed a good amount of content for my channel, but it just doesn't seem sustainable for me while having a full time job. Makes me wish I had a longer commute sometimes, so I could record on that... but, like you, one video a week is all I can do these days

Yeah, absolutely, I was burning myself out when I tried two a week, but the full time job really doesn't help.
