What Is Everyone's Microphone Set Ups?

Sorry to hijack this topic.
I have a extra mic from my Midlant Btnext intercom. Is this what os call a boom mic? The mic also hava a white little on one of the side. Is the dot the front side of mic or the back side?

looks like the white mark represents the side that face away from you. Would be weird to have to twist the entire boom.
 
Hard to say, but I'd guess that the white mark should face you, based on the velcro part and shape. But connect it up and blow on both sides and see which has noise.
 
I've got my mic embedded in my padding near my mouth but the best improvement came when i got a bigger screen.
 
Im using a cheap lapel mic i got from Amazon connected to the go pro with an adapter. Its not studio quality sounds, but it is good enough. Check out one of my vids to hear the sound coming from them
 
I was lucky enough to balance out my mic setup from the very first Motovlog I ever made. I am using a Sony ECMCS3 stereo mic with a GoPRO Adapter, Git2 action cam on my AGV Horizon helmet.
Thing is, my helmets cheek pads are "open" on the inside, which means I can pretty much just force my microphone into cheek pads foam without any modification or cuts. On top of my microphones foam, the wind/noise elimination is top notch and my voice comes out crystal clear.

Also, AGV Horizon helmet interior is designed with Bluetooth communication devices in mind! Helps alot with spare cables and stuff.
 
I use a seperate Zoom H1 with a Neewer lapel microphone, works fine so far
 
ok so i guess it is trial and error - it is unfortunate that there are so many good microphones with a right angled connector and I think I need a straight connector to attach to my drift usb / 3.5mm adaptor - I have ordered a couple cheeapos and won't discuss further until I have tried out a few - it was good to see that many many people were trying different things too and i wasn't just being stupid
 
I fitted my Sony ECM with a deadbeat yesterday and tucked it up near the front of my cheek but for some reason it still isn't as clear as I'd like and I'm getting distortion in places.

I wanted to fit it in the front near my mouth, but my helmet shape means its to close and i would literally be blowing fur out of my mouth every time i talk.

anyone had similar issues?
 
I don't use a manufactured deadcat, I make my own so trim the fur to suit the role :-) I also line the chin piece with fur too, especially around the wind deflector on the neck
