What Have You Done To Your Bike Today?

So why is it discolored? It is because it's been torched/burnt? I'm not completely familiar with electrical stuffs.

Some of it will be from being immersed in oil. Most of it is from burning itself out. The pink/grey on the new one is the insulation from the wires that wind around the core. When that insulation breaks down the wires ground out and arc to the ground rather than sending the electricity down stream. That arcing will burn all kinds of things, and eventually the entire unit simply stops functioning as it should.

If you want to know how the whole thing works, read an article or two on magnetic current induction.

Oh I gotchya. I'm familiar with magnetic current induction from physics class, just didn't know how that coil got to be that color over time.

I see. As far as I can tell it's from the constant arcing and extreme heat generated. Wires turn fun colors when that happens.

Today, I FIXED THAT SHIT! :)

I'd have taken some pics, but I was trying not to drip sweat into open throttle bodies while cursing at things and .... well lets just say the list of "wtf is going on here.." items goes on for quite a while. Good news is, the new stator and r/r are in, connected, and functioning!

Pulled the stator out yesterday, and got the new one mostly in. Running the wires is proving more difficult than expected though. I think it's kind of obvious which is the old one, as well as why I drained 2 batteries in 3 rides.

Is the new one from Ricks?

... A very small wheelie.
A mix of a new bike with a shit ton more power than my 125 and a little hump in the road means my heart fell out my arse when the front lifted for a fraction of a second :D kinda fun though.

Installed a Dart windscreen on the bike for days on the highway, and then went out for a test ride for the day with a friend. The windscreen definitely works for me.

How sad is this!

Been of the bike for a bit now... its stored away from home until i can get back on.

I got soooo excited that i was able to go over and start her up! I have not seen it in what seems ages! And pulling open the shed and looking in was a deep and strong tug in my chest! My heart started beating faster! Adrenaline started to flow!

Then i pushed in the key..........kwekwekwrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM

Ohh my god! What a feeling what a sound! Just sitting there listening to that triple burble! If you cant understand you never will! Its just so visceral!

I miss my bike!

My Hornet just got Dynojet'd today. 21 dynoruns, slightly tuned exhaust tube, re-jeted with the kit. The kit delivered almost no HP gain (just 2hp) but the torque comes much more sooner and it's slightly bigger - 62Nm at 11700rpm stock, 68Nm at 9500rpm tuned. Also the lower rpm spectrum is much more powerful when compared to stock.

My feelings from the first ride: The bike wants to do the throttle wheelie on the first gear with bigger passion. Even on the second gear the front wheel lifts up slightly just with the twist of the throttle. I don't dare to do clutch wheelies yet. The top speed is pretty much same but the throttle respond is noticeably better and quicker through the whole rpm spectrum. The sound has become more aggresive and raspy.

Installed RAM mount, GPS, and USB charging port.

That is a very very sleek looking GPS. As much as I like using my phone for GPS...I'm thinking on getting an actual GPS unit so I won't lose direction/signal while adventuring out in the middle of nowhere.

My experience has been - while out in the middle of nowhere, is when the GPS will give me bogus instructions. I still keep a paper map in the tank bag.
