Hi,
I'm Walt and as you may have guessed from my username, I'm from PA (Those of us in Pennsylvania just shorten it and literally say the letters - I sometimes forget that this little habit of ours isn't common across the country).
I started riding bikes about 13 years ago. I signed up for an MSF Course and had a lot of fun while getting my license. I wound up buying an "old beater" 1980-something Suzuki GS450 to learn on but after a couple of years life changed. I got married, had kids, and motorcycles just weren't a priority anymore. I sold the old Suzuki and moved on to other hobbies.
It wasn't until a couple of months ago when I got back into bike. I stumbled onto a YouTube video (I've watched so many at this point I don't remember which one got the ball rolling) and I've been kind of obsessed ever since.
My plan was to re-take the State Motorcycle Course as a refresher but COVID Closures created an array of problems. So, I did the next best thing - I bought a couple of books and started reading
- Road to Mastery by Greg Widmar (Motojitsu)
- Motorcycle Information Safety Systems by Michael Wesley
- Total Control by Lee Parks
When it looked like state courses weren't likely to resume this spring, I started researching bikes. I wanted something bigger than my old 450 (since I felt like I was ready for a bigger bike pretty quickly) but not something so big that it would be overwhelming.
I settled on a Naked 650 and after a lot of Video Reviews, I decided on a 2018 Honda CB650F. I've had the bike for a little over a week now and I'm very pleased with it.
So why a motovlog?
We'll, I used to do a lot Video Reviews and Vlogging years ago (I have a personal blog that I started in 2009). Its been years since I recorded a video but when I came across the concept of a vlog on a motorcycle, it seemed like something that would be a lot of fun.
As far as hobbies outside of Motorcycles - I'm into Archery and Cigars.
