Hello Friends.. I'm a rider from Tx.. I was bored the other night, so I went for a ride and started a FB Live video while I was cruising around town. I thought to be able to interact with people while I rode was pretty neat.. they watched me ride, and I could talk with them. Someone I ride with turned me on to Motovlogging, so I have been kicking around the idea of recording our group rides around Texas. There's so much information to digest on this site, which is great, but also a little intimidating. I've got a vision for what I'd like to do, but I could use some guidance if you feel inclined to give advice. When we ride, there are anywhere from 5 to 15 bikes. I was thinking about mounting a camera on my front fender or fairing (i ride a street glide) to catch the group since I ride in the rear. I thought about mounting one on my bars or dash to capture me if I wanted to vlog, but I also want to be able to pull alongside the group and capture the other riders. At any rate, I just wanted to say Hi and that I'm happy to have found this wealth of information.

Hiya, welcome to the forum.

I'd def not mount it on your front fender, the vibration would not be kind to the camera. Most do a fairing mount if they only want to bike mount or if you don't like the idea of attaching it to your helmet!

I'd say helmet mount on the side, so that you can catch the group in front of you and you can ride past the group while recording everyone. Also when you stop its much much easier to just walk away and not have to fiddle with mounted cameras (and then you gotta remount when coming back)

Welcome! I used to film with a group of riders on a pretty regular basis. I tried to take different places throughout the group so everyone got some camera time. Multi cameras are one solution but then you got all that footage to edit.

Depending on the bike, you could try a high mounted 360 and edit it for traditional screens. That way you could dictate where the viewer gets to look. Or you could leave it 360.

I ride a street glide... I've got a few friends who are willing to let me borrow some cameras for now... I am excited about the ideas I have in my head, but I know that there is so much out there that I don't know. I have thought about the 360 cameras, but I'm at the point where everything looks cool. So I'm still researching what I would like to get. I think I have decided on a couple of Hero 5 Black cameras and mounts. I am looking forward to starting something new and seeing where it goes
