Raffle draw last month the three numbers came up as Mamba, Marbro, Marbro. 3rd number is the winner of the video in the side bar.

Whoever gets the highest posts I believe gets the title of top poster as an automatic feature of the software.

I think having a set number of posts before you can post a video is great, and increasing it is even better. Forcing people to be involved in the community is not a bad thing, and it gives an extra incentive to work toward. Maybe people shouldn't even be able to post videos till 30 posts? (Yes I just screwed myself) then 10 posts a week for 1 video after that. I like the idea you have set forth so far though :)

The only problems with upping the post count, People leave because its too hard.

Or they shitpost like me.
Do you want lots of shit?

I am a bit torn here, on the one hand I do like the forums and have picked up some good tips and had some good interaction, but on the other hand this is motovlog.com.
I personally like to watch the videos and respond based on the content of the video.
relaying a topic via a video can sometime be better than starting a forum topic and I for one would like to see more video's that then stimulate a good discussion ect..
If the site becomes to restricted with do's and don'ts then it may deter people as well.
Sorry Dan I know I am talking from a "post" spam issue perspective being a relatively new member and I know you do not have infinite compute resource at your disposal.
But I think topics created through the medium of video would be and good be really good. If you have to get 10 posts under your belt to post the video topic you want to discuss then they may still not be quality posts that contribute to anything. And like so many people, if time is not on your side and you cannot dedicate a regular amount then it does not go in your favour. I also feel that you have to be careful about not being too elitist and give the impression that "if you cannot commit on a regular basis then we don't really want you in the community". Hey, I love the site and appreciate all the admins that run it, just being honest and hopefully helpful.
keep up the good work.

Interesting post.

I know what you mean, a motovlog site you could expect to see more video. Videos have been allowed in general threads - where the content supports the thread. A clear cut example is the bike maintenance bit.

I'm not averse to videos dotted round the forum, but it is that fine balance of spam promotion. Of course we want people to link in vids, but not everyone wants to give back.

I'd like to say if you've got a topic and can make a decent post as well as a video link to support it, then go for it, but I wonder how many people are going to stretch that. If you've got a good topic, feel free to ask Dan or myself if you want to include the vlog within the open forum.

Videos in other areas are banned. It will turn into a spam fest, the forum a year ago or just over was a spam fest.

Peoples need to self promote is worth more to them that giving to the site, in my opinion

As said though. The rule is staying as it was.

Promoted videos will get attention and well, promoted within reason

I have turned a blind eye when someone posts a review they did in reply to a a question

Common sense I guess but most take the piss

I've also added promoted videos to the main menu. It will show new posts etc as as well.

Thread closed as I've said about keeping the 'rule' etc
