Total Editing Noob

Another vote for vegas pro it just works and it is simple, you can figure out alot of the stuff with out any special skills and there is so much information on it online just do a google search and you will find a video and a written guide.

I started with a GoPro then switched to Drift but still edit in GoPro studio, that's where I'd start if I were you.
I've got a Drift.
Downloaded GoPro Studio and then imported the file. Video is there but as soon as you click play it just emits a high pitched whine and doesn't actually play the file!?!!

If you can Sony vegas with tutorials available Or Premier pro too. But for a total newbie, do google Videopad by NCH software, very easy and user friendly. I started by that and then moved to premier

If you are a noob noob like as noobish as one can be. You might wanna try windows movie maker. :) Otherwise, just youtube it and they'll help you out... i prefer sony vegas.

I have never edited anything in my life until the other day and I'm using the go pro software it's pretty straight forward and I'm pretty sure you don't have to use a gopro to use it. Also it's free

I wouldn't recommend Windows Movie Maker, its simple and easy to use but the quality of the production is apparent. Either get a trial version of an editing software like Final Cut Pro X or Sony Vegas (is there a trial?). That or fork out some cash for the programs. I mean you can always find ways around it for sure aha.

But here is my two cents, don't use Window's Movie Maker, its interface is ugly the same goes for iMovie. When I got my Macbook Pro, I got Fina Cut Pro X because I knew I would not like the simple functionalities it came with. Also you can find more in-depth tutorials with those specific types of software compared to iMovie or WMM.

stuffit I am happy with premier pro.
Took some time to get used to, but it works

Haven't used Vegas but I'm super happy with PP. I watched a 20 min video on the basics and fell right into it. It has its flaws but overall very easy to use for a complete beginner

If you have a GoPro use the GoPro application.
I was loving it and then it started never working and crashing, not loading saved files etc..i have done all the updates and uninstalled / reinstalled and still so many issues :( Now I am in here researching for beginners editing software before I started a thread asking for my needs .. not much more advanced than the OP, although i got pretty good at the basic features of the gopro studio

I've been using Adobe Premier Pro from the start. Really simple to use and lots of tutorials on youtube

dowloaded windows movie maker - so far so good on the basic stuff i knew how to do on gopro editing

Plus side - you can add pictures

I have not found anything that gopro can do that movie maker cant (other than slow down further than .25)

any advice fellow windows movie maker users to spruce up the videos for now?

Since I have a shitty mic i like that it is easy to adjust the wind noise / music accordingly and turn down the music when i talk etc to make it some what watchable until i get my mic situation figured out :(
