So, I subscribe to a bunch of vloggers, some that are even in my area, St. Louis Mo. yet I never hear back from them if I message them. So my question is,

How active are you at responding to your viewers? Do you reply to their messages? Do you talk to them?

I at the moment have under 100 subs so I don't field many questions but when I do I try and respond back in at least a day. What all do you do? Have any of you found yourself in the same position?

I respond to every question or comment, but I only have a few hundred subs.
I very rarely comment on any video which has over 50 comments, as I know there's little chance of a reply. I can't imagine what it's like to have hundreds of comments on every video uploaded. There's not much chance of the person having the time to respond.
 
I try to reply to all comments that require a response, not all comments need a reply, some comments could be by trolls. If a comment doesn't need a reply and is not a troll type post, usually I'd give it a thumbs up (or +1) just as an acknowledgement that I saw the comment.

As I don't check frequently, I usually do my replies maybe once a day, or longer/delayed if on weekend or I'm on holiday.

I'd probably respond sooner thru Facebook or Instagram, only because I get the notification on mobile.

Good question by the OP though.
 
I suppose once you get in to say LP or 64F Honda territory it'd become too hard to do. They must get thousands of notifications and hundreds of messages
 
I try to reply to all the comments I get on my videos. With only 22 subscribers thus far, that isn't hard though. I could only imagine having hundreds of comments to wade through.
 
I have a good few subscribers and I can't respond to them all, I do try and respond to all private messages where it doesn't fall into the category of what cam,bike etc etc or can you give me a shout out etc.
But I do read 99% of the comments and reply if I think it needs one.
 
I don't have a ton of subs, but I try to respond to everyone within a reasonable amount of time. I am subbed to guys who have a ton and they respond to just about everyone. Taofledermaus, Jesse and Mike, MattV2099 just to name a few. I don't know how they do it.
 
Someone sent me a message through youtube and it took me a good couple hours to figure out how the hell to check it and reply. In your situation, i'd say either tag them in a video or something.
 
I reply to all mine but I think once you hit a couple thousand subs and get upwards of 100+ comments it becomes hard to reply.

Best tip: Comment on the video as close to when it is uploaded - your comment is most likely to be seen and interacted on which pushes it to the top of the list.
 
People still somehow find a way to send you YouTube messages which I always tend not to check anymore, so sometimes I'll be replying to messages maybe 3 weeks ago or something like that. I don't get any kind of notification for YouTube messages that's why. I still reply in the end, apology included. :)

As with the general consensus in here, I reply to everyone, but I don't have that many subs. I can see how it would become difficult to respond to everyone. Especially when the questions/comments get so repetitive.
 
I try to reply to everyone, but even at "just" 1.3k subscribers it is sometimes hard to keep up. 10k or 100k? I don't think I could reply to everyone even if I wanted to!
 
I've been pretty good so far as I get a manageable number of comments per video from regular subscribers / commenters so I'm only too happy to respond and I've also only received couple of emails on my facebook page which I've been able to respond to quickly.

I can only imagine how many messages, comments, requests etc that someone with a much larger channel would have coming at them every day. All that as well as that individuals personal life, job, kids, family and so on; it may be very hard for them to respond to each and every individual message.
 
I usually drop a video in the morning, Wait till the end of the day, or the next day, Then go through and reply to each comment,After that I try to check my comments page once a night and reply to any stray msgs as they come through
