The "perfect" Setup For Motovlogging Beginners!

I recently started motovlogging and i did months and months of research to get the perfect motovlog setup (in my opinion)

Heres what i got:
CAMERA:
-Sony HDR AS15

MICROPHONE:
-Sony ECM CS3

Crisp smooth quality in video, and "almost" perfect audio. NO WINDNOISE!

Any other "Perfect" setups?

There's only one perfect setup for each individual but lots great ones choose from.

GoPro hero 2014 or and an external zoom or equivalent audio recorder will give a great picture and beat any action camera for audio quality.

You can chin mount them too which is absolutely required in my opinion. Side mounts look horrible with the helmet taking up a load of the screen.

I hate seeing a gopro on the side or top of a helmet, and mine doesnt have space on the chin for a gopro..so i got a drift.
To be honest, im loving the side view with a bit of helmet in ...

Sony has Manual Volume controlHero3 / Hero 3+ dont

the hero4 has way better audio but with the bluetooth option turned on its manual aswell (pending bluetooth device the mic is)

this basically means the hero 4 is manual mic control aswell. thus creating what people would say is perfect audio..

However

i prefer a slight amount of wind noise and engine noise.

I use
Hero3+black
zoom h2n's digital filter into gopro
Audio techinca atr 3350
audio adjustments in fcpx

chin mount with deadcatdot or Umoto as they are now called.

ps im drunk

You're missing the most powerful part of using a H2N.

I get a track from my helmet, and a track from my zoom (ambient), which means if I talk crap but want the footage I can use the ambient sound (engine, no wind noise) then I have that option.

How unfortunate that i cant post my video here so you guys can hear my setup, but yea, you can hear my voice and about 20% of wind and engine noise. I really like it! And i have my Sony action cam side mounted, i ddnt like how it looked ontop of the helmet....it looked like if i had a mohawk on my helmet lol Id put the cam on my chin block, but i have a modular helmet. But im really satisfied with what i got :)

I'll be doing a video about my setup today but I'll try and explain it as best as I can.

I have a GoPro Hero3+ Silver, it came with a skeleton back door.

I covered the back door with fluffy fake fur fabric and stuck the GoPro to the front of my helmet. Works beautifully! I get get engine audio while my voice still comes through nice and clear.

Pros: Easy to just pop the camera on and record, it's decent sound quality too.

Cons: No longer waterproof and doesn't work above 60(ish)mph (which, in my opinion, you shouldn't be doing much talking if you're going at high speeds.) Also closing the visor can alter the voice quality slightly.

Some people don't like the side view, but I prefer it, in my opinion it gives the video more character, I dislike the chin mount, it just seems unreal. As for the sound set up, I'm still shopping around, seeing what works best!

drift HD ghost with a cheap chinese mic:p ..i still havent figured out the perfect mic placement tho, but for now it works reasonably good.

and the reason i didnt go with a gopro and chin mount is pretty much because drift is cheaper and im a student, meaning im on a tight budget:P

Gixxer, with your side view you are missing 1/3 of the screen, and anything that happens on the right is missing. It's also weird to have the bike off to the side and the view ahead slanted in my opinion.

I really don't get on with the side view :(

The perfect setup for someone broke (like me) or not willing to invest in vlogging is something like I have.

A mobius camera (60€ from ebay) mounted on top of the helmet with the velcro mounts it comes with. As for sound I use my android phone with an old nokia headset and it sounds just fine. Sure it lacks a bit in quality but for a beginner it's more than enough (for the cost)

SJ4000/Mobius/GoPro Hero and a phone seems like a great combination for enabling new vloggers to get started and grow our scene.
