Bought a Shoei RF-1200 for $500 and added the $200 transition lens. Works well, happy with it.

how do you get on with the visor, does it transition quickly?

I feel quickly could be relative for some. I think its a pretty quick transition to dark, but not back to clear. The only thing is it doesn't get completely black, but still gets dark enough for sun protection. But would be that mirror black you would get from a dark visor.

I'm Goldielocks, I went Full-faced Shoei 1100 to Open-faced Shoei and now in the middle with HJC Modular. Best of both worlds.

I've got a Shoei shaped head so that's what I've always worn..

For the first time, I'm trying a flip-front helmet and bought a

Shoei Neotec II about a year ago.
Unfortunately it's much louder than I'd expected.
And they are becoming more and more expensive - best part of $1K for this one.

So why the flip front? Because I get hayfever and sneezing inside a full face helmet is certainly sub-optimal...

One thing I do love and probably wouldn't be without is the drop down interior sun visor.
Plus I love the clip type fastener rather than double d-ring just for the convenience.

I love my Shoei NXR Dystopia, But its a heavy lid even before all the bits are added on. I did just purchase a new photochromic visor (reacts to light and auto tints. of course I will do a review videos of the new lens)

Where it lives, when its not on my head (much to the disgust of my wife!) - Gag shelf underneath (although the puppy can reach this now - so its moving and getting a glass door)

You can get a 3D printed GoPro mount for that to be able to chin mount your camera!

Got myself a Shoei NXR Philosopher (Red and Black) had an AVG K3 before and after 3 months the vent started to fall apart and the visor wasn’t sealing properly so net it back and upgraded to the Shoei. Can highly recommend it!

HJC CS-R3 Hi Viz. I've always had good luck with HJC. Used to be a big Icon guy, but they changed things while I was on hiatus and they no longer fit me. Sucks, because I really like the Airframe.
