Still thinking about that, or did you get one?
Unfortunately with the world going to crap right now, I wont be able to buy this for a while.

But its just the guts of a high end camera, so a little diy for the buttons (to use with gloves) and hooked up to a powerbank I think it would be sweet.

Now if we get a 200mbps Micro SD card we will see a huge jump in 360 cameras, and there will be 8k or 10k 360 consumer cameras offering 60 fps and 4k windowed footage.... now that is exciting tech!
I think GoPro had a good idea with the fusion. Each camera has its own card. I get why people don't like that but they have no problem with 4k 60 and slow-mo that they could just put two of those on with their own sd and do 8k30 360 no problem. I think people would forgive the 2 SD cards for that quality

I'm not spending a cent on a new GoPro (still using a 4 + 5) until they junk that bloody audio adaptor.

Yeah I own a Hero 8 and I think the Media Mod requirement to plug in an external mic is dumb.

Luckily I've found a setup for me using the internal mics which works well enough. I almost bought a Hero 7 over the Hero 8 simply because the 7 doesn't require a media mod!

the 7 still requires a mic adaptor though for people running in helmet audio, as does the 5 and 6.
The 8 can actually use the mic adaptor as well, so you don't "need" the Media Mod

You could use a separate audio recording device, like your phone, and not worry about the media adapter/mod at all.
Although that is a great way to do things as you can get much better audio that way, it adds a device that needs batteries and also adds a need to sync audio too. I used to do it, and still do on my trackday videos as not allowed a headcam for them. But I have snapped so many microphone wires taking my helmet off and lost audio on many videos due to the mic disconnecting etc, it just isn't practical for me to go that route on my regular vlogs.

Here is a pic of how I mount my Hero 8 to my helmet:

I now have a foam deadcat over the mics, its working good for me so far. I like it because its simple and very easy to remove when I want to.

Mengy, not a terrible idea but it works only because of your GL huge wind screen I guess. And I completely agree with HippoDrone that a separate recording of audio and video is a pain in the ... Well, a lot of work :D

There must be a lot of processing that goes on with using onboard audio in cameras, I cannot get clean audio no matter what I use - Olympus DM550, Zoom H1, Zoom H4 etc... including $2 lapel mics, Sena mics, $100 Rode lav mics, deadcats, different positions, different helmets etc

I'm going a DIY an audio adaptor for my Hero 4 and see if that helps

I'm moving away from motovlogging though, I much prefer making videos in the traditional sense these days so haven't been all that motivated to sort it

Yeah, probably. The foam I now have over the mics helps a lot too, but when I lower the windshield the noise does increase, although not as much as I expected.
