I know the bulk of this topic is slightly played out but my problem is a specific one.

So I've gotten tired of my uploading times to YT. For instance I'm currently uploading one and its at 57% with just under 6hours estimated left til it goes live.

I can remedy that by knocking the video file down from 1080p to 720 and the upload time for a 10min+/- vid becomes 1-1.5hours

Only problem is I get a big black border around the video as opposed to my 1080p vids that take up the whole screen. This is the one vid I did in 720 as an example:

Versus all my others which are full size. So is there a way I can bump it down to 720 but not have the big black frame around it or am I just SOL? :x

Thanks All!

What file format are you saving the 1080 videos in?

Hmm... if both are in wmv and the only difference is the resolution it's being rendered in, then 1080 must be creating some massive files.

I've never rendered anything in 1080 myself, so I'm not sure exactly how files rendered in 1080 might be so much bigger.

I suppose the easiest solution for now is to simply use 720! Might not look as great to you, but a lot of people watching won't notice.

What software are you using? And I agree with Friz most people watch in 720 if available as 1080 is just too slow to spool even on fast connections (at the moment anyhow).
Saying that I do upload all mine in 1080 just because I wan't them as a historic record and in the future download speeds should be way faster, but that's another topic ;)
