I don't get it, i see many video's with famous music and there is no problem at all. How do they come away with that?
Well, it is like this from what I understand, it was due to the Digital Millenium Copyright Act that was passed in which I think Lars Ulrich from Metallica started it, and I think the video on it is at:
.
In other words, Lawyers "hard at work" for some stupid reason because the music industry was not paying the artists for their songs, to where the internet came along and started file sharing of famous songs on the internet, and then there is always other "artists" sampling other artists songs. A certain situation was Napster, in so far as this act, and yet there was the "sampling" of David Bowie and Queen's "Under Pressure" song, and then Vanilla Ice (aka Rob Van Winkle) sampled the song and used it in the song "Ice, Ice, Baby", from what I understand. Like the artists do not make enough money already. There was a south Park episode about it at:
.
Kind of a stupid law, but that is what happened in my opinion. Just another way of wasting taxpayer money here in the USA. LOL

If it's a stupid law involving the internet you can be sure South Park has covered it :D

So if someone posts their own music on, say for example, Soundcloud and they allow you to download it for free can you just use it in your videos (if you do make money from them) or are you meant to ask them first?

LOL, yep, you know it about South Park, LOL!!!
That is where I do not understand this Digital Millenium Copyright Act. A bunch of Lawyers and people like Lars Ulrich made it so confusing, that I often wonder if I am going to get in trouble for downloading songs from the internet that are not "youtube safe", so they will not pull my account. I am wondering if I have to ask them first, especially after that stupid act, and then the Napstallica cartoon, just makes it all together silly anymore. I would like to use some of the songs from Soundcloud on some of my videos that have way too much wind noise on it, and have them fade in when the wind noise happens and fade out when I am talking on my videos.

I was one of the first users of Napster... it was a revolution, baby  !!!

Downloads at 3k/sec. on a 33.6v34 dial-up modem, three songs a day, nice :D !
Cool, and now Metallica had to go and ruin it for the rest of us, because they did not make enough mega millions. LOL!!!!

LOL, Capitalisim??? Well, it is Capitalisim for Metallica and others, and yet more like Socialisim, or communisim for the rest of us. LOL
Heh, when I lived in China, I discovered that socialism works great, too - it just depends if you're on the giving end or the receiving end ~_~ (you can read that anyway you want :p )~.....

I think the way I would play it with Soundcloud songs is to just use them if they are free to download unless you channel becomes very popular (like say Baron Von Grumble) then I would be inclined to ask as they are more likely to stumble across the video on Youtube and go 'Hey this dudes used my song, Imma report him'.

O o.k. I will try that until youtube tells me to stop. I will use some of the songs from soundcloud until people like that punk *** Lars Ulrich starts making another stink about it. LOL
