Are you a music producer, or do you know of any websites where you can download royalty free music to use in videos? Please post here!

Artists:

Artist Name: Oprayx
Forum Username: Pedaway
Audio URL: Here
PM: Here
Notes: Every tune on the Myspace is avaliable, just give me a shout on the forum and I'll send you the MP3s.

The best place for royality free music by far is The Podsafe Music Network, run by former MTV VJ Adam Curry. Register as a 'producer' (free) and you have access to thousands of musical selections, uploaded by artists who are smart enough to want their music on the net. Just do the right thing, and credit your artist on your video.

This one seems to be quite good and provides a wide variety of high quality tracks. I use this often now.

I'm not entirely sure of the different licensing on this site but as far as i know most of the songs are CC, just check to be on the safe side.
Thanks Dinkoman

Might be worth removing my music from the list above. I don't really have access to my music files at the moment. Left the external HDD in Edinburgh.

Another site worth a mention:

http://ccmixter.org/find-music

Lots of free stuff to use so long as the artist is given credit in any video using their music.

The site suggests how to give credit and the phrasing of it so that everyone is happy.

An extensive site so have a good look.

Just a wee late thing.
If anyone needs some music for their videos and such I'll happily have a go at sorting you out.
I specialise in rock and metal but play everything really.

Be aware there are some real a-holes working behind the scenes at YT. I recently went several rounds with them about using a song licensed under creative commons 3.0. I sent them links to the music, author and licenses, all easilly verifiable. YT sends back they could not verify the rights to use the music. I re-sent the links and also screenshots showing how the music was linked to the license. Again someone at YT decided it still was not enough and that I needed to get written permission to use the song commercially (even though permission was publicly granted for commercial use). I obtained written permission and sent it to YT. They again rejected my use of the music claiming I did not provide correct attribution (although I had). I Wrote them back again with the exact time marker in the video where attribution was given. Finally they accepted my use of the music commercially. This whole process took nearly 3 weeks to settle.

From what I can tell I think someone decided they wanted to be a complete ass-hat and were playing games trying to get me to remove all the videos I used that particular music in.

Moral of the story: even if it's legit use, YT can still hassle you and give you hell about it.

I've been using music made by a guy called teknoaxe who is based on YouTube and he provides a text document with his written permission in it (I say this because his signature is written within it). He does music that is more techno, hence the name but he does something for pretty much anyone's taste and I'm quite impressed with the amount of songs that he's already created. The only problem is that he provides his songs for download through soundcloud.com and once each song has been downloaded 200 times it is no longer available, although he still allows them to be downloaded himself, however, he does put his music on YouTube before putting it on soundcloud, meaning you can use a site called http://www.listentoyoutube.com to download the mp3 track to the video (which is all you want really) from YouTube, it's entirely legal, and thousands of people use his songs, and you don't even have to give him credit in every video, although I do so.

Just realised I've written a very long winded message so I'll give you guys the links and shut up now :p

I use www.freeplaymusic.com for my vids. its free and no license! And youtube seems to be cool with it.
Thanks a million for that link! I used music from that website that I used in my opener... as easy as pie! Didn't like fine print where they could monetize off of any video you upload that has their music in, but ah well, I won't be making any money off of my videos anyway :p !~

I try not to use Royality free music, Because the RIGHTS are often resold to other companies etc and then its a weekly long battle with companies for EACH one of your videos when they flag it for copyright
