Mornin' Folks!

I use Adobe Premiere CS5 and I put crossfades in between ALL cuts. But I still get clicks and pops and it's driving me crazy. Otherwise I think my vids seem quite professional, but crap audio is letting me down!!

for example:

I've tried short fades, long fades, exponential, constant gain, constant power EVERYTHING!!

I do use a Multiband compressor on my audio track as it cleans up a bunch of the rumbly bass and helps the voice stand out.

Its only in post processing.

Most annoying thing is that when playing back in premiere, no pops. When I export to the final video, pops and clicks are there again.

Gotta be in your rendering, not sure where to start but I would grab a small clip you can play with and render quickly. Trying different settings whether its something in post process or in render settings.

If you can't find anything I would even try installing the software on a different computer or even try a different editing software to see if the same thing happens once rendered...

EN187 might have some insight on this as well...

I just noticed that while editing. Put this effect between your clips and see if it improves. Drag it between the audio clips on the audio track.

OK I've FIGURED IT OUT!!

It was all about my signal path. I was adding multiband compressor effects to every clip to kill some bass and take off some high end wind noise. Then the crossfades were trying to reduce the volume between clips while the compressor was trying to pump the volume up. result? Pops and clicks! I now have NO compressor effects on the clips and have a single compressor effect on the video audio channel AFTER the crossfades have done their work. Result? NO pops and clicks! I can sleep again!!
