Hey guys, need a bit of advice...

So I went to school on Monday on my bike and a cager clipped the back of me on a roundabout! knocked me off my bike :/ Luckily I had frame sliders and my bike was fine except the wing-mirror...and it's just bumps and bruises for me.

But, today on my way to school my engine just seized! luckily I had breakdown cover and I'm home now, but do any of you know how much it would cost to get my engine rebuilt at a garage? As my maintenance skills don't go that far...I still don't know what is exactly wrong with the bike, but I just want to be prepared, looks like I'm going to have to put the drift off for a while :/ I know I have given many details, but a ball park figure would be great.

Ride Safe

I depend what the problem is...Strip it down and have a look, sounds like a minimum of a cylinder replate and new rings. Maybe £150 unless a new barrel and rings are cheaper off the dealer...
2 strokes are a doddle to strip and rebuild...

2T are fragile machines you need to look after them (not saying you don't), re-builds atleast every 11k miles.

People that ride 2T may not know this but, I found this pretty good advice.

Because the oil burns better at a higher rate of revs, try not to ride it under 6.5k keep the revs high. Because if you don't, what will happen is lots of un-burnt oil will sit in the cylinder & after some time it will seize the engine.

Or if you ride under 6.5k everyweek, take it for a blast at the weekend, open it up fully.

Only use fully systhentic oil, I'd suggest Castrol.

Just for future referance :)

Thanks AZZ3R, It's got about 12,000 miles on the clock, so I guess it's due a rebuild...

And I normally keep it at the higher revs for better acceleration and being able to keep up with traffic, but I didn't know it benefited the bike, thanks alot for that!

I use Castrol fully synthetic oil anyway, so that's good :)
