Originally i bought a standard def GoPro to film tree work i was doing, but i wasn't impressed with it, i then started doing bike lessons and thought about vlogging,

i chose the Drift Innovation HD170 stealth for a few reasons, external mic and screen, but mainly the fact it was £139.

ive done a half assed test vlog, but not had the chance to test it while on a bike,

fitted on my helmets

Coul you post a pic with yours set up please? Looks different on white helmets.

I made a unlisted video - here.

@10feetup and AZZ3R -

Here is my setup and the best way i found the mic to be used, This may help if you have mic issues

ive mounted my mic in the same way, in the full face helmet its inside the cheekpad cover, on the full face its mounted on the outside of the cheekpad, not tested this yet though

They need to make another mic setting between setting 1 and setting 2.

Ive moved the mic to try it in a different position, i may try a different foam cover to dull the sound for setting 2, ill fiddle about with it and see what happens.

The mic is held on by 3M Duel Lock magic witchy wizard awesome spell ninja stuff

i had it in the cheekpad, but it dug into my forehead every time i put the helmet on, i can mess about with different thickness foam covers for the mic until i get something that works well, altho no bike or license makes real testing impossible :(

Instead of buying helmets buy a bike. You dont need 3, 2 will do 1 main helmet. 1 spare.

You could have a vlog helmet and a standard riding helmet? Only need to wear it once or twice a week.

I used to have 5 helmets, but sold 3 of them...I now have 1 specifically for vlogging using a 2nd gen Vado HD, while the other is used for days when I don't feel like recording anything and just concentrate on riding fast

I use the Drift HD170 Stealth (though I haven't got any pics of the setup), I've found that puting it in the cheek pad works best, I've actually put it in the hole where the helmet strap goes through, that way not only is it sheilded by the wind noise, it's not in the way and doesn't get caught on things likely to damage it. and even though it's so far from my mouth it works well. I have done a vlog (more to come) with this setup, I find that it's a really clear sound. feel free to watch the video (the link of my chanel is my sig) and tell me what you think of the sound. I'll try and take some pics this weekend.

I have a few questions about the chin bar mount for your GoPro if you wouldn't mind.

Is the camera stable there?
Does the camera hit your chest or shoulders when you do a head-check?
What are the actual dimensions of the mount that is stuck to the helmet?
Could you please post up a photo of that GoPro (on it's mount) from the side?

Thanks!

I have four helmets, with a slightly different camera/set-up combo for each. Wait, no five. Six! Ha. But, two are essentially junkers. I never use them.

One of the helmets I just left in Chicago, on purpose, so that I'll have one at my mom's house, in case I am ever in the area and have the opportunity to borrow someone else's bike and don't have mine there (say, if I took the train there or something). It was one of my dirt helmets. I have another.

This is the trouble with working at a dealership. You get such great deals, it's hard to take your paycheck home.. LOL

I just picked up the first gen Kodak PlaySport. It's like a Bloggie on crack. Can't wait to test it out tomorrow. I'm transitioning back to in-helmet cameras after one too many confrontations sparked by the obviousness of the external camera.

I watched a video of a cop pulling a guy over because he was apprently "not allowed anything preturding off his helmet". < also said it could break is neck if caught on something.

But if there is anything within 2feet of a riders helmet surely a truck is at risk then?

LJ, where your living are you allowed helmet cams? i.e Drift,GoPro on the outside?

Darkflight
Dafora
Chase
& Toast 2 Go ? < not to sure going of memory here.

these guys all have them, I know its all different laws in different states.
