I am currently using THIS mike:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TINY-TIE-...E-/270976331390?ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:GB:1123
The item (in case listing has ended and you cant see it) is a "TINY TIE CLIP MIC LAPEL VOICE RECORDER LAVALIER ELECTRET CONDENSER MICROPHONE".
This particular seller (
micronic007) gives you the option of several cable sizes - from 1meter to 50m. I asked for a 10cm cable, which he did.
So now I got my mic glued inside the helmet (the AGV horizon/skyline has a ridge and a small hole in front of your mouth for a microfone and its boom), with the JACK protruding from the bottom of the left cheekpad. So when I vlog, I just connect a small 3.5mm extension cable to the helmet, and the other end to the recorder, and I'm good to go. No more cables dangling from the helmet.
With an external cheapass sound recorder. (by cheapass, it was the cheapest I could find that has a usb port so I can connect it to the PC. Cost me around 40€) - A Phillips Voice Tracer, model: LFH0615.
Why the links and the recomendation? Well go check my channel and see the diff from the current setup, and the previous one. (I think my last vid with the old setup was "Helmet is BACK". This mic is good enough that I can finally hear the engine in the videos.
in fact, the audio you get in the vids is very, but very close to what I hear when riding. (just a tad more of engine noise, as that noise is carried by my body up to my ears).
ON THE OTHER HAND...
how good is the recording from the GoPro3? I'm considering forking over the 85€ for the gopro3 mic adapter, and the skeleton case, and connect my tiny cable mic to the gopro directly. 400% easier to edit (no more sound syncing yey! no more forgot recorder at home and really wanted to vlog, yey!), but what about the sound quality?
